Apparently, there have been many eyewitness accounts of modern-day versions of dinosaurs! In the People's Republic of Congo, a creature called mokele-mbembe by the locals resemble a large Apatosaurus (formerly called Brontosaurus). Pictures from our books were shown to local natives (who have no paleontology knowledge), and they say it is what roams the swamps. If we ever find these large creatures, it is likely that they are few in number (endangered). And if they exist, could there also be other types? There was a bird called the Moa which was the largest bird in existence that lived in NZ. There were sightings as late as the 1890's down in Fiordland but the scientific community are of the belief these died out as long ago as 1500 through the indigenous people eating and using them for cloaks etc. Fiordland is a large uninhabited place so they could quite easily exist without people knowing.</TD></TR><TR bgcolor="#FAEBF8"><TD valign=top>QueenofSheeba</TD><TD>:eek2: But then as mambo said,why not?
