T O P I C R E V I E WPearlty*Heart--Shaped CrossDid you mean "coincidental"? or is that a play on words?I like it, Pearlty.Like some of your other poems,it gets me wanting to know the story. What is the piece of brass?I know it is not a contest or conquest, but a little healthy competition never hurt anyone. It is, of course, everyone's choice to see it however they wish.I take it pretty seriously, I guess. Maybe 'cause its all that I've got.Sometimes I experiment and show things that I would never think to publish, and sometimes I show things that I want to see taken very seriously, and compared, even unfavorably, to the best poems in the world. But I constantly contradict myself and my own advice on poetry, and rediscover what I'll find beautiful from one day to the next. PearltyDPPearlty*Heart--Shaped CrossThanks for the nice compliments. You are right, even bad poems are meaningful to their authors. Its something I need to be reminded of sometimes, when I get fixated on high standards (Cappy Asc, full 10th house).I think, for the most part, I am usually aware of that, and I do find beauty in the intention, and the sentiment, even when I feel the execution is sloppy or sophmoric.Someone posted a collage an artist had made for Kurt Cobain... A knowflake responded by telling us what a poor example of art it is.And I replied that I was not in love with the piece myself, but, that what is beautiful about it is the artist's respectand affection for his subject, which comes shining through.I told her that, if all she could see was color and line, then I felt sorry for her, because she missed the real beauty.I told her there was nothing uglier than her own superficial appraisal, lol.Okay, I was a little harsh, the stinger came out, but, come on, Kurt is my boy.Anyway, I do get the idea. And thanks for reminding me. hscQuincidentally, I was introducing Melody to the Ramones just the other night. I still want her to hear this one, but the title gave her the creeps and she wasnt having it, lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-Gj72Mdn34 PearltyThe visual arts have never really been my forte, although I can appreciate those who excel in this form of creative expression..I like words, words, and more words... I see your point though...and I think that picture.. is not the best I've ever seen either..but it's cool in its own right..Glad you introduced our Melody to the Ramone's...Creepy..huh? and some of that stuff, she directs me to isn't? hehe just kidding..
