T O P I C R E V I E Wwhitewitch111This a poem I wrote about Queen Victoria's lament to her husband, Prince Albert after his death,Victoria to Albert,Oh my love, how dead and gone you are,And have left for heaven afar,What has happened to me now?I don’t know how I can possibly go on,With you dead and goneWithout you by my side,Where in life can I hide? How can this atrocity soothe me?Oh Albert, how I loved thee,A Queen is nothing without her Prince,Which was what you were, Dear Albert, and sinceYou have been dead and gone,This palace with gayety will not ring onAnd nightingales and larks will no longer sing their sweet song,Of lovers devoted and lovers long,Albert how can I possibly sayThat you were my heart, my night and day,Together we made an empireThat the world will remember not as direBut as an era of antiquity and love,When there was once again faith in God above,But how can I trust that Holy Father now?Since he has taken my love, oh how?How Albert did you feel at that last hour?Did you ask for me, Did you beg Christ in all his merciful power?I suppose it matters not, as you are dead and I am bitter,The rose and the lily together do whither, As has together us, your body and my soul,And sweet lullabies will fail to lull,The pain I feel deep within my being,Never again another will I be seeing,As I have eyes only for yours,And have a heart that filled with soars,Oh Albert I’ll bury you in grace,As never again shall I kiss thy face,And in that last hour,I’ll lay upon thy grave a flower,A token of our love which will never die,As my eyes will never again cease their cry,Oh Albert, rest peacefully,My joy, my love, my every simplicity,mirage29Oh! My how sad.... Very very beautiful, whitewitch111. It's almost as though you were she! Great job!So dramatically elegant....! ---------BTW... your line:"And have a heart that filled with soars,"Perhaps you meant the word to be "sores" (wounds?) or "soars" (flying?) --- homonymsRandallVery Victorian. Reads like a classic. Loved every word.
