katatonic | have to say i'm impressed that he actually did it properly. bernie sanders is the only other person who has staged a proper filibuster in years. and i didn't think rand had it in him. |

Capricorn people will argue to the point of insanity or self-destruction before we concede defeat about something we strongly believe in. |

katatonic | of course. mccain is more behind a military-run usa than pretty much anyone. mccain was head of the committee that WIPED the amendment from the NDAA after said amendment (to protect due course) helped get the bill passed. are you still labouring under the delusion that republicans are for small government? |
katatonic | @faith, i agree with your statement about capricorns... However they are also very prone to jumping on any opportunity for self-advancement and this was such a moment in rand's life...he is not just any cappy, but a cappy Rat, eyes always on the prize. I am not writing him off but i think before he rums for president he would do well to answer for himself the question he asked (as a put down but VERY relevant) "what happened to the obama of 2007?" Because it will happen to him or anyone who gets to the white house and i don't think rand has a clue. One of the reasons i say both pauls are EXTREMELY valuable members of congress but wouldn't last a week in the white house. |

He's a Cap Tiger. I like Gary Goldschneider's system of astrology, which breaks the year into 48 signs. He calls January 3-9 "The Week of Determination" and remarks that people born in this week are highly ambitious, and "once embarked on a course of action, they are extremely difficult to dissuade." They (we) never quit. Anyway..I think the filibuster showed Rand's opportunist side, but also that determination. Moreover, he was articulate throughout. quote: Originally posted by katatonic: I am not writing him off but i think before he rums for president he would do well to answer for himself the question he asked (as a put down but VERY relevant) "what happened to the obama of 2007?"
I agree and have said as much to other people already. quote: Originally posted by katatonic: Because it will happen to him or anyone who gets to the white house and i don't think rand has a clue. I think Rand is somewhat like Robert Kennedy, who knew exactly how the game is played, played it a bit, while intently planning to end as much corruption as he could once he got into power. I think the powers that be already know this about Rand and will probably sabotage his run for office, despite his best efforts to pander however one needs to pander, in order to gain access to higher positions. Ron is no longer in Congress, unfortunately.

Faith | Corrupt Presidents last in the White House, because the Powers That Be want it that way. If anyone miraculously becomes President without being corrupt (or oblivious) enough to satisfy the puppet masters, their lives will probably be in danger.

katatonic | Sorry, i guess i read wrong, thought he was a rat! My bad..what i said about csps still stands. I hsvrn't written him off but i would rather hsve a clever rst in the white house than a tiger myself. I don't think a president has to be corrupt but they do need to be able to play the big boys off agaonst each other so a healthy dosr if cynicism, an ability to hear the gutter press without being influenced by them, and a knowledge of the real threats are all important traits. Obama is a very good player who lets people bust themselves, that doesn't mean he os corrupt but he is certainly willing to use the corruption against itself. Whethet you can play the game without ,being corrupted, dunno. I think eisenhower was an honest man who often did things he would rather not to achieve the greatest good. Kennedys too arrogant toward the big guys, so terms and effectivreness aborted... |
katatonic | But we don't really know do we? Appearances are always somewhat deceiving. It took johnson to get jfk's agenda through in washington and who is puppet or puppetmaster is hard to tell even with hindsight. Did ron paul even want to be president? Or was he smart enough to use running as a platform to get more public visibility for his point of view? Is rand ? |
Faith | @juni: Carter was an OBVIOUS Trilateral Commission puppet. Trilateral co-founder Brzezinksi was Obama's foreign policy advisor at one time. Tellingly. |

Who did he let "bust themselves"? All the Bush-era criminals and Wall Street crooks he pardoned and covered for? |
