T O P I C R E V I E WRandallAmerica had been the leading exporter of natural gas for years. Now we are importing it. The countries who export natural gas are as sending it to countries where they are having emergencies. That means much less for us. Supply and demand. Too much money chasing too few goods.Inflation is sinister. It was under control for years, and now it is back with a vengeance. It destroys any gains in pay and obliterates savings. The Dems are going to pay dearly for this and for high gas prices.GalacticCoreExplosionV2 Might be worth sharing, not sure. Anyways, this fall/winter season, I plan on building simple, inexpensive Solar heaters for our house. The basic idea is that you take some large cardboard boxes and reinforce them on the outside with waterproof wood glue and fiberglass cloth, and treat the inside with silicone. Put a slightly smaller cardboard box into a slightly larger one, and well insulate the space in between (many different materials could be used). Paint the inside black, and then get some soda bottles, mason jars, or the like, fill them up with a combo of water and car coolant (or glycerin if you want to be more eco--these raise the boiling temps a bit, along with lower the freezing point), paint these black as well. Put a glass or clear top of some kind over it (preferably insulated..creating your own double pane, vacuum insulated glass panels is probably actually easier than one may realize). Glue a Solar panel powered fan on the outside, and then run some insulated ducting to a window with some foam cut to shape to fit in the window with a hole that connects to the ducting. Have a insulated flap velcroed on that can put up or down depending on if it's running or not. Also have another Solar panel powered fan on the inside of the window sucking in the air from the "hot box". Put this on your roof or some place where you get some consistent sun. Anyways, the fan will turn on when there is sun and turn off when there isn't any. Cover the hole with the well insulated flap when there is no sun. It's a little more complicated in actuality in the details and specifics, but this is the general idea. Anyways, I'll be combining the above with running a woodstove at night to save money on heating. PhoenixRisingR, I was responding to Belage if you paid attention. GCE -- nice idea for the summer. People here looking for cheap heat. We need to pass electricity through a coil for example. Problem is there isn't much of sun in the winter. Tesla was outrageous and says the atmosphere and space has plenty of free energy particles and he was building a centralized tower and people could tap in to it for their electricty. Even the ancient pyramid may have been used for generating electricity and I sure it would have cost a lost to build such.
