RubyRedRam | I need some advice about my veins!! For about most of this year my veins are quite visible through my skin. Motly on my arms and legs. They don't look like varicose veins but I'm scared they may end up that way It just looks like my skin is almost transparent. Does anyone know what would cause this or how I can make my veins fade back into invisibility?? |
Oxychick | Hi RRR, Those are spider veins. Vericose veins are different. Very often, they're unhealthy veins. It's very often genetic and circulatory. I have them too and I've had saline shots to collapse/disolve them (they're unhealthy veins anyway, so blood is rerouted to healthy veins). A little tedious (and pricey, or else I'd still get it), but it worked in most cases. You can't do anything on your own to get rid of them. But you can rest assured it's very common. |
juniperb | Hi RRR & Oxy, do either of you take anything to improve circulation? I need to start taking something, but there`s so much available to choose from Butchers Broom seems to keep repeating it`s self as a top choice. Any recommendations? juniperb |
RubyRedRam | I have no idea I just hate seeing green on the insides of my arms etc! I feel like the incredible hulk woman... I wondered if it had something to do with circulation but I have no idea... I spose I should do some surfing and find some info...I'll keep u posted |
Oxychick | Actually, they haven't worsened since I started taking CoQ10. |
RubyRedRam | whats that for anna?? |
Oxychick | heart/circulation, ally. also an antioxidant and helps fight free radicals. |
RubyRedRam | Might try some. I just looked up stuff on spider veins.. meh looks like I'll just have to live with it. Or save up for some treatment ------------------ ~~Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves~~ *Sir James Barrie* |
Oxychick | Not sure how pricey the treatment is down under. I will suggest taking an asprin before hand if you hate getting prickied by needles. very often these veins will result from pregnancy as well. |
Lunargirl | This may sound oversimplified, but is it possible that something or someone is "getting under your skin"? The mind/body relationship is complex. I read that varicose veins (which I know you don't have) have to do with "standing where you hate". I wish I had an answer for what could be causing your spider veins. I have a few but not so many. Are you getting a good balance of sleep and exercise? Anyhow, and light to you, Ruby! Lunar |
Randall | Large doses of d-alpha tocopheral might work. Are you a smoker? ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark |
DayDreamer | RubyRed, here’s a good link for varicose and spider veins... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/varicoseveins.html I should start looking into it. There’s also laser treatment. Best thing for circulation is exercise and keeping your muscles strong so they can help pump blood. Just walking for at least 30 min is good. I have a habit of sitting down at the computer too long...so it’s important to take breaks, walk, stretch. All common sense, but taken for granted.

RubyRedRam | I don't smoke and I get plenty of exercise and sleep Thanx for the Link DD, I shall take a look. Lunar, I had a think about what might be getting under my skin. Nothing stands out at the moment but I shall think about that one |
purplezen | edited because I am such a virgo! lol |
jason from oz | Recently I came across an article on the net about salt and how healthy it is!. 5-10 grams daily they reccommend. apparently if your healthy it wont cause any heart, artery problems as we always hear about. I havent used salt for many years, so go slow if you are the same as it can cause histamine reactions like rashs and clear runny nose if you rush. food for experiment! J

RubyRedRam | I am a bit of a salt fan, I can't help it. I have salt on and in everything. I even have a handy little salt/pepper container that fits into my purse ------------------ ~~Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves~~ *Sir James Barrie* |
