SunChild | Would anyone happen to know what exactly causes the white spots on finger nails? I've heard many theories as to what it could be. Like, is it calcium defficiency?, too much calcium?, or has the nail lifted? My nails are naturally strong and are at a good length, and my diet is balanced. So I'm not quite sure what it could be... thanks |
SunChild | I just did a search on it...and now I have more confusion. Now it could be a low zinc level, minor trauma, or a mineral deficiency. ?? Must get to the bottom of this. |
Yin | My grandma always said I had a vitamin deficiency. There are multivitamins for nails and hair out there if you decide to take anything, those vitamins target that exact same problem you describe. I remember when I went on a drastic diet and my hair started falling off, I took some vitamin formula, very popular in Bulgaria( I can't remember its name of the top of my head). It helped quite a bit. |
Randall | Most likely, it is a zinc deficiency. The next progression is impaired immunity; however, the reversal is almost instant once zinc is taken (the spots won't change and will have to grow out). Take zinc separately. Those multi-formulas usually have copper as well, and each of the two inhibit the absorption of the other. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." SunChild | Thanks Yin & Randall. I did some additional research and now I've found that it is quite possible that it is zinc. I examined what foods zinc is rich in and compared it to my normal diet. And it is low. I'll try to incorporate zinc rich foods into my diet more often or buy a zinc only supplement. |
SunChild | The only way I can uptake my zinc naturally is with wheat bran... cos I dont eat much dairy and no meat. Might have wheat bran for breaky most days then. |
