T O P I C R E V I E WGia Bee Magic!Throughout the generations, bees were thought very poweful. Now Simon Buxton has written a book about bee magic. I have just ordered it. I'll be able to comment more once I've read it and I thought you guys might be interested. The African Shaman I went to see had bee motifs all over him. My own grandmother kept bees. They followed her to church one day and they sat on the fence and waited till she came out and followed her home. She told me they all flew away when grandpa George died.Have any of you had any strange bee stories? GiaExplore an ancient kind of magic with Simon Buxton, author of "The Shamanic Way of the Bee." At age nine, Simon was brought back from death by a bee magician. Later he later met an elder of the bee tradition who initiated him into the ancient rites of bee magic, which is present throughout the world, wherever the honeybee exists. It is thought that the Asian science of acupuncture began when people discovered they could be cured of certain illnesses by intentionally allowing themselves to be stung by bees. In a kind of initiation, Simon entered another world, where he became a male bee searching for his Queen, and he shows us how honey may have been used as one of the first mind-altering drugs. While we've been searching for gurus in the exotic East, this spiritual path has secretly existed among us all along. There's much magic to be learned from following the way of the bee!EleanoreSounds very interesting, Gia. I'd really like to hear more when you are able to share.I know I don't circulate LL well so I'm sorry if I've missed your post discussing it, but what African Shaman are you talking about?------------------"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - GhandiPhilbird Gia, you are tooooooooo much! I can't even touch that one with a smiley! Bees following your grandma! Tears man, tears! The only thing that ever followed me was my own smell! Can't say I was blessed like your grand mother. Ha ha, waiting on the fence! Anything ever follow you?You are something! The next time I go to a Shaman, I'll have a look at his/her tatoos!Gotta luv ya! GiaIt's true, Grandpa loved those bees. They made lavender honey and had over a dozen beehives. Neither one of them ever wore protective clothing and they never got stung. When I was about three, one got in my knickers. I think I must have sat on it or something. Anyhow, it stung me in the privates and it hurt to pee for about a week! When Grandpa George died, Gran said the bees followed her to church and waited on the fence and followed her home. When they buried Grandpa, she said they all flew away and never returned. Isn't that some weird story?!!!! GiasesameWow, that's awesome. I didn't know anything like this, except that Maleluka (sp) honey is meant to be very healing. It can heal cuts or bruises etc. I believe some people were studying its properties. I think it's made in New Zealand. You could google it.Also, the post reminded me of that Stephen King book/movie with Tom Hanks - the Green Mile. The dark guy had insects that flew from his mouth after he healed something - these could be bees, but then, I think they disintegrated.Dean.sesameWoops, it's Manuka honey - http://www.manukahoney.co.nz/startsession.cfm?language=1 this is the web site.Dean.merciful1I just always thought that if you wanna get busy...burning bee's wax candles might give you good mo jo yourfriendinspiritNeat Thread, Thanks bunniesOld English folklore is that if someone dies in the family you have to tell the bees. And who knows? It may be so that they can attend the funeral!Apparently if you didn't tell them they would leave the hives and not return.Must have some basis in fact as most of these old tales do.MannuOur earth is dying
