HURRICANE STAN EMERGENCY FUND Our planet is calling on us to examine how we treat the natural world and each other. While the number of world disasters is overwhelming, every act of solidarity helps to alleviate the suffering of our human family in these challenging times.
On October 4th in Chiapas, Mexico, thousands of landslides and the floodwaters from 98 rivers changed the world forever for thousands of people. Damage from Hurricane Stan extends from Mexico through much of Central America. This human and ecological tragedy has not received attention from the media.
Rural people in hundreds of small communities have lost their crops and fisheries in what already was considered the poorest region of Mexico. Thousands suffer the psychological impact of terrifying experiences. The scars of uncountable landslides will mark the face of the rainforest for decades.
The Sexto Sol Center, a U.S. non-profit based in Chiapas, Mexico invites you extend your caring to the people by making a contribution to the Hurricane Stan Emergency Fund.
