T O P I C R E V I E Wbella_taurusHas anyone here ever experienced hair thinning, shedding, or straight hair loss due to drinking?Back in 2014. I had an extensive surgery on my stomach, since then, every time I consume hard liquor (I am not a heavy drinker, BTW) and get buzzed, I wake up the next morning and my hair feels really thin and brittle. Then it sheds like crazy, then my ends split terribly. It's the craziest thing. So after growing out my hair last year and getting a nice haircut last month, my hair is back to when before I grew it out, because last night I had a few drinks and got buzzed. I am not sure as to what I should do, I could talk to my hairdresser, but he's always out of town, I have African-American hair but I am not sure how much help I can find on here, but I guess its worth it. Anyone have advice as to what I should do?LittleBlackCat quote:Originally posted by bella_taurus:Has anyone here ever experienced hair thinning, shedding, or straight hair loss due to drinking?Back in 2014. This could be a sign of a bigger problem. So many things can happen to the body post surgery. Seems to me that your body no longer handles the ingredients/agents in beer the way it used to. Meaning something (we don't know what) does not work properly anymore. I wouldn't waste time talking to the hairdresser though since the problem is not the hair itself but within the body (causing the hair to react badly). Until further notice of what's going on you should stay away from any beer (even a little). Check with your doctor ASAP and describe the symptoms. Sorry about your hair by the way RandallMoving this to Health And Healing.Aries EagleI know that alcohol can interfere with vitamin b12 absorption which is important for hair health.I would advise to talk to a professional doctor about your problem, they will do some blood tests like iron levels, zinc, b12, thyroid etc.. to find the cause of the problem.best wishes------------------"Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom." - Thomas JeffersonAERandallSounds like iron.RandallThey can tell a lot from hair samples.RandallTry taking Biotin.bella_taurus quote:Originally posted by Randall:Try taking Biotin.Thank you, Randall!
