Nephthys | I don't want to embaress my sweet dog, Jasmine, but I have a question about her nipples. Last night I noticed her nipples are black, hard and crusty, and shriveled up. Does anyone know what this means???? It's the bottom 4-6 nipples, but the top two are pink and normal. She is only 3 1/2 years old, very active, healthy, and puppy-like (just in case anyone inquires). Please advise if anyone knows, thanks! |
Eleanore | I've no idea but I did find this website. Maybe you could submit a question and get some help? http://www.justanswer.com/dog-health.asp?r=gapet&B=Dog+Health |
Nephthys | Thanks but you have to pay for that service. |
Eleanore | Really? I had no idea. I must have gotten it confused with another website ... hmmm. Hope Jasmine is doing okay. |
Nephthys | How is your dog? When I have time I will try and wash them and see if the hard, black crusty darkness comes off. |
juniperb | If she isn`t uncomfortable with them, I wouldn`t be concerned I always use Drs Foster and Smith live chat if I have a question. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/LH/lh_afterhours.cfm Being so rural & a Vet not always handy, I need the extra coverage from them. lovely* | I've seen this quite a bit with dogs who are lactating. And I've seen my own nipples get sore & cracked when I was nursing my daughter. But Jasmine is not with puppies is she? When I had a gelding (horse) his sheath used to get crusty/black too (sheath is foreskin).. Perhaps Jasmine just simply isn't able to reach her back nipples to clean them like she is the front two. Any pictures of Jasmine? |
Nephthys | Hi Artlovesdawn & Lovely ~ Thanks for your replies. Dawn, I followed your link and those ailments describe swollen tumour-type growths with discharge. Jasmine's are small, no lumps, and no discharge. We maybe think they are just dirty, or ????? They are not as hard/crusty as we thought, they're actually kind of soft now. My mother used some antibiotic ointment on them. Lovely ~ Jasmine has her very own webpage at Dogster. She even has 2 videos there. You can view her page here: Click Here |
lovely* | Jasmine has rabbit legs. They look soft, silky-white and swift! I can see her as a jumper!..and a barky girl! Is she vocal? LOL I'm looking at Jasmine swimming in the pool and thinking her energy is that of a child learning to swim, never venturing off too far from the stairs. It's great you have a website for her. Did you clear up the nipple issue> Also, Neph, are you the blonde? Where in Ca are you? |
Nephthys | rabbit legs! Yes, she definitely *jumps* anytime she wants FOOD and can't wait. Also when she catches her ball (when I throw it, when we play fetch) she does some acrobatic jumps. OMGosh she is TOTALLY like a little kid! She does swim to the deep end of the pool, too, but just loves to push her ball out on the steps, swim out & get it, over and over again. I'm not really worried about the nipple issue anymore. Yes, I am blonde, & I live in Marin County. (north of San Fran.) Where do you live? |

Nephthys | I just upgraded Jasmine's webpage at Dogster to Dogster Plus and I made her a Christmas webpage. So if you'd like to visit, please scroll up a few posts for the link! |
