T O P I C R E V I E Whypatia238Found an article with several tables of proposed Ying Yang Pairs that I thought you guys would enjoy: http://yinyangastrologer.com/astrology-2/asteroids/yin-yang-astrology-in-practice -dyad-pairs/ AubyanneThis is terribly fascinating, H. Have you done any research into it yet? Seeing if these tend to pop up, in dyads, in synastry? I'm interested to see if certain ones tend to prevail over others.hypatia238Table 2:433,29,1221,40,2101,32,1036,6,1812,532AubyanneHold the phone. EROS and AMPHITRITE?I kinda get it, but ... EROS and PSYCHE. This is the resonance, right? ... Right? What are the new dyads trying to achieve? I think it's VERY interesting, but I'm trying to get ... what's going on here. Delilah423I think some of the pairings are very strange and can't imagine that they have more power than their proper mythological pairings, but I guess he's looking at what he considers the symbolic essence of the "pairs," rather than the actual partner in myth.hypatia238 quote:Originally posted by Aubyanne:Hold the phone. A primary reason for doing this is that I like to maintain a good energy balance in my work, which means I want as many yin symbols as yang symbols. But established astrological practice gives the emphasis overwhelmingly to yang factors, which in many ways only mirrors the way human societies work. Patriarchy still rules most of the world, and feminism is so far in retreat these days it sometimes almost seems it never happened. Many people reading here will know that the ten ‘planetary’ factors used in standard astrological interpretation are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Many astrologers also include the ice body Chiron to this list of ten, making eleven. If the Sun and Moon are considered primal masculine and feminine energies respectively, then out of the remaining nine god symbols there is only one goddess, Venus. This hardly represents the yin-yang balance of either physical Nature or of the spiritual significance of the feminine (‘shakti’) force.Over the years I have come to view a number of major asteroids (or dwarf planets, as astronomers now like to classify Ceres and Eris, alongside ‘demoted’ former planet Pluto) as yin polarity partners for the yang planets which are used without question by the world’s astrologers. These ‘asteroid goddesses’, as they are sometimes called, represent major archetypal figures from Classical myth, which after all encodes stories with deep meaning about human nature and the journey of the spirit. Major ‘asteroid goddesses’ include the first four asteroids discovered – Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta – and figures such as Iris and Proserpina. The depth of archetypal meaning found in particular symbols is for me the crucial test of whether a heavenly body is major or minor. For many years astrologers have played the astronomical game of ‘size matters’, and engaged in a curious double-think that attributes meaning and the power to influence to those heavenly bodies big enough to be dubbed ‘planets’, but somehow supposes that anything that is not a planet lacks significance and the power to influence. I fail to see any logic here – and the ‘demotion’ of Pluto should prove the point. If Pluto isn’t really a planet after all, were we astrologers imagining he had a huge impact for all those years??In terms of astrological influence I have a simple rule – size does not matter! At least, the physical size of a heavenly body doesn’t matter. The size of archetypal meaning is another story, as I have already stated.Because I value meaning over size, my astrological repertoire includes more than a handful of asteroid goddesses, and encompasses some asteroid gods as well. In particular, I like to promote the value and significance of such important but neglected god figures as Hephaistos and Bacchus and Apollo. The table below gives a summary of the dyad pairs I have developed over many years of practice. As time goes by I shall be adding posts explaining the thinking behind the pairs you see here. But as a starting point, many will be familiar with the Sun-Moon dyad, which shows a balance of archetypal masculine and feminine energy. The desire and love dyad symbolized by Venus and Mars is also very familiar. But other possibilities are proposed in the table below.
