T O P I C R E V I E WmidnightvenusDo planets need to be in aspect in order to "sense" or react to each other?Like if someone's Venus is in a sign, and the other person's Mars is in the opposite sign, but not directly aspecting...What could we say about that?astra7You won't feel very much if any. Tighter the orb the better.Vajra quote:Originally posted by midnightvenus:Do planets need to be in aspect in order to "sense" or react to each other?Like if someone's Venus is in a sign, and the other person's Mars is in the opposite sign, but not directly aspecting...What could we say about that?I'm with Linda Goodman on this one - at least when it comes to the personal planets (not sure about the outers). The very fact that the personal planets are expressed through certain signs will produce an effect regardless of the exact orb of an aspect. Example: As a Gemini Mercury I always experience an easier communication flow with any of the air Mercuries, compared e.g. with Mercuries in conflicting signs, no matter whether these are in aspect to my Mercury or not. Have experienced the same with Venus, Mars, Moon or Sun energy as well (the conflicting energies are not necessarily bad, btw, they can be energizing as well). For instance, with my ex hubby my Leo Venus and his Aries Mars energy definitely interacted a lot (lol), even though they were not in orb to be trine. For me it works that way in natal charts, too; for instance, my Gemini Mercury and Libra Uranus are just out of orb to be trine (10 degrees), but I guess if you'd ask people who know me well they would deem me a textbook Merc trine Uranus case.So to me it makes no sense to say "aspects by signs" cannot be felt at all, because I can definitely feel them. It's true though that in the more important synastries, both people will usually have very close aspects between a lot of planets in their synastry chart. But that doesn't render by-sign comparisons totally meaningless IMHO.LucieLemonadeI certainly think they are important, even if they are not aspecting. For example, I'm a Sag moon dating a Leo moon. They do not aspect. But the clearly come into play in each of our personalities. So in that sense, they "interact". Personally (again), I don't think I like dating another fire moon. Because when one does off, the other goes off. I think this is true as well for sun signs. I've had too much friction in my life with certain sun signs even not aspecting that I keep people of those signs at a distance. They just clash with my personality, aspecting or not. You'll have to check. Otherwise, no aspect is no interaction. There can be resonance, but it depends upon other factors: Midpoints, dwad activation, configurations and pattern completions, etc.midnightvenusEverything you all said made sense to me.I'm still not sure on how to feel about this. Thanks for everyone who answered!
