T O P I C R E V I E WNycteaWhat are your personal experiences? Or maybe you could give me your insight about how a Mercury in Sagittarius relates to the Mercury in Pisces and vice versa? My sister is the Merc in Pisces, i don't think we have any trouble with communication, probably because it's a wide aspect. I just think she's aggressive sometimes and a bit rude and loud which is kinda funny because Pisces is a very gentle sign (and she is a Pisces Sun too).Tell me how you experienced this aspect and the Merc signs involved, please! RandallBump!KoniuchaI am Scorpio Mercury. I actually get along well with aqua Mercury. You also have to look at aspects to Mercury. I have Mercury conj. Uranus, So that helps. LaceyLeighI find it terrible. I usually can't stand people who hit my Mercury in a negative way with their Mercury. I find them offensive in a way that I just can't stomach. I have an Aries Mercury.Nyctea@KoniuchaInteresting! i'll definitely look for aspects in natal!@LaceyHahah i can imagine cardinal mercuries being competitive to express their ideas and one interrupting the other, i'd never want them in the same room for too long Thank you for your responses and thanks for bumping Randall. I'd like to know more experiences with this aspect but i guess not many people have/had this in synastry, i didn't find much online either, but thanks again.May2900I have a Retrograde Gemini Mercury square my best friend's Virgo Mercury, and I find myself always interested in what he has to say, even when it's something seemingly silly I need to know what he means and why he said it. And when a misunderstanding occurs, we're both ready to talk about it, we don't let it go (never had an argument yet)AquaLeo29I have Mercury in Capricorn and my ex-BF has Mercury in Libra. He nagged me a lot and, usually, I just listened and kept quiet.now...My S.O. has Mercury in Aries. We are often irritated by each other over minor things. He is really inquisitive and asks a lot of questions. I tend to blurt out stories, too. I am usually not that type. Thus, I think Mercury square Mercury varies in flavour and manifestation for each synastry. Also, individual maturity will lessen the negative effect of this placement. From Astrowin.org description of this aspect, it says that...==============="Mercury square Mercury According to Lois Rodden, "With MERCURY square MERCURY you'll often find that people initially will be somewhat wary of each other. MERCURY is spontaneously friendly. MERCURY makes quick connections with people. When MERCURY is square someone else's MERCURY, there may be some reticence to involve yourself with them too quickly. There is an initial obstacle or incompatibility that stands between you. That difference may be an attitude or circumstances. Change in understanding is needed for the breakthrough to communication. However, once that breakthrough is made, a bond is built that is mutually stimulating. However, unless both the people make that effort, they will regard each other with a degree of wary formality." It's like you somehow have to work your way into the relationship. MERCURY square MERCURY relationships can be some of the finest relationships you can have, people who have a deep bond of enduring friendship. The relation can include problems, but the give-and-take leads to growth of understanding. When this aspect occurs between people, you find that the people think entirely different; they express their thoughts totally differently. Often times you'll find that the two people constantly interrupt each other. This aspect is a stimulating aspect, but it's MERCURY stimulating MERCURY to talk. You may find yourselves repeatedly cutting each other off. This aspect can cause misunderstanding and serious differences of opinion. There is much criticism of each other. Your respective interests go in different directions with not much intellectual inspiration or encouragement between the two of you. This is a difficult aspect to work with in marriage, for it does not promote companionship. Discussions end in an impasse, neither one of you being able to understand or appreciate the ideas and judgments of the other. It often causes confusion of minds in reaction to each other and can lead to arguments, misunderstanding or just no understanding, and atmospheric tension in close associations. If your MERCURIES are in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius), stubbornness is added which precludes compromise."===============yungang_grottoThis can be manageable but if Mars is in the mix it's often too much... That's what I've seen. It's worth taking a gander at the draconic Mercurys... modifies things somewhat.CeridwenHmm, I don`t think I ever experienced a Mercury-Mercury-square. I guess though I might fare better with the square to Pisces-Mercury (as my Mercury is disposited by Jupiter in Pisces in my 3rd house), while the Virgo-Mercury could be problematic. But never experienced it, at least not to my knowledge. I have a clear preference for Mercury in Sagittarius, followed by Aries, and then Aqua and Libra. I am quite easy like that, tuned into the conjunction, trine and sextile when it comes to Mercury-Mercury. I do get along well with Mercury-Mars though, though usually in the conjunction, which is very different from a square of course. Hmm Mercury at around 5 Pisces-Virgo or Mars at around 25 PIsces-Virgo would make that Mercury-Mars-square, I donīt remember anyone I have this with I think? Nyctea@May2900Retrograde planets are more introverted, and Virgo is very similar to Gemini but introverted! There will still be differences but i think these energies go really well together.@AquaLeo29Mercury in Cap naturally have a mature way of thinking, so you kept quiet and decided not to annoy him back. I understand, i have pr Merc in Cap and sometimes i tend to do the same.Mercury in Aries is a little bit difficult to deal with i think, they might instigate silly fights more often and it's hard to keep it cool hahah. I'm not saying they're all like this. That's a really good description, thanks!@yungang_grottoI can imagine Mercury sq Mars being veeery unpleasant. Never experienced it though. I know that Moon-Mercury square is one of the worst aspects.I like Draconic astrology so much, i'll check that out! can't believe i forgot.@CeridwenThat's interesting, i'm a little confused about dispositor planets but i'll read more about it later. I like your Jupiter placement so much.I've been thinking a lot lately about how mental connection is important in any close relationship, but i used to overlook Merc-Merc aspects. Thanks everyone! manderinIt's a serious red flag aspect. One of those aspects that can destroy an otherwise great synastry. However the awfulness of this house tends to only come out after living together. Mercury rules the day to day chores and daily life is about that. When the way too people view daily life are at serious odds it becomes impossible to be with the other person.I had this with a long time partner. Communicating was always an issue, but it wasn't until we lived together that communicating became soul crushing. I would try to speak to him about things and he'd block me from saying them or would make himself unavailable to hear anything. Then he'd complain about the results that came from that.ChildofVenus quote:Originally posted by manderin:It's a serious red flag aspect. What if both people have Mercury/Mars in their own chart? I have Mercury sextile Mars. The other person's Mars squares my Mercury they have Mars conjunct Mercury in their own chart. And as for Mercury square Mercury in synastry. I don't think my Aries Mercury would bother them too much. Being as though they have Mars conjunct Mercury in their own chart.
