astrosaz | Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense, I'm in hospital at the moment on strong pain killers and thought I'd write a question I've been wondering about for a while and now I have time to. There are many threads on here entitled 'Sexual synastry aspects', 'Most intense aspects in Synastry' Or 'Hottest Aspects' Etc. Many people have commented on these threads unveiling their own personal experiences with certain synastry aspects and one of the most popular (maybe even THEE most popular) aspects users have commented about in these threads is Venus Square Mars. Some quotes include - 'In my experiences.. i find that Venus square Mars is pretty spicey as far as "hot" The hottest attraction for me was venus squared mars (double whammy).. The chemistry is amazing!!!' 'Venus-Mars, specific I second the venus square mars double whammy!! The chemistry is amazing...I'm starting to like squares' 'I second the venus square mars double whammy!! The chemistry is amazing...I'm starting to like squares' 'In my experience the Venus/Mars square was more sizzling than the conjunct' I thought Squares meant differences in taste, communicating and behaving therefore creating conflict e.g merc square merc, moon square moon etc.
So if merc square merc is a different style of communication and usually causing arguments, wouldn't Venus Square Mars mean differences in sexual styles and tastes? And therefore low in sexual compatbility? ... So why do many people label it as one of the 'Hottest, sexiest, intense' aspects in synastry? ' |
astrosaz | Also In Linda Goodmans 'Relationship signs' book she says about this aspect 'There could be excessive sexuality in one of the partners leading to indiscretions' ... What does this mean and why? |
capricorncheriscty | Realistically this is a hot aspect to have in a fling or a purely sexual relationship (short term or long term) but I would not be one to hype this aspect up if there was any other type of relationship to be present. There would be lots of sexual conflict, confusion, misunderstandings, etc, especially if there is a double whammy. When I say conflict I do not mean physical harm (though it's possible, just not off of this one aspect solely), I simply mean there will probably be more arguments and miscommunications surrounding love matters. Square signs are of the same duality so they understand each other to a certain degree but for the most part they are very different. Preferably, I would rather have the conjunction or opposition between the love planets in synastry. Venus sq Mars seems like it would be a sparking flame from the very beginning (from the mutual understanding of having same duality) and then die out/dull over the years due to the realization that love matters between one another truly ARE viewed differently by each other. This is one of those aspects I would be iffy about in the synsatry. Like Venus-Uranus. Venus oppose trine or sextile Uranus sounds nice but the conj and square seem like it would slowly spiral out into chaos. Not all squares are bad but some are more agitating than others...I would say this is Venus square Mars, agitating sexually (which some people like) but over time can lead to mental agitation (as in, they won't stfu and stop bothering you!) |
capricorncheriscty | "There could be excessive sexuality in one of the partners leading to indiscretions'" I am assuming what Linda means here is kind of what I was saying in my earlier post. Venus square Mars brings an obviously intense sexual attraction but it can and most likely will quickly turn to an indiscretion of behavior from one or both parties: arguing, miscommunication of love, EXTREMELY poor decisions being made such as rushed relationships without knowing one another very well, etc. |
Kannon McAfee | The square is a driving aspect of strong push. People who are looking for that level of chemistry with its typical tension/attraction dynamic will like it. However, it is not really a synastry aspect to bank a relationship on. I disagree with the idea that this aspect in synastry points to one of the partners likely acting out sexually outside the relationship. A synastry between person A and person B only says something about their relationship. So this is only one aspect in any given synastry, which can be pronounced chemistry with tension, just one piece of an overall synastry picture. ------------------ Soul Stars Astrology - by the declinations guy Declinations: because the planets move north and south of the celestial equator |
Orange | I had this aspect at 0 degree Venus square Mars between myself and an ex: his Mars, my Venus. The attraction was strong from the beginning but it was peculiar, neither was the typical type we used to go for. The sex was not good at all, at least for me, the desire was there in the beginning but it died down due to a feeling of dissatisfaction, we simply had different styles. The timing of wanting intimacy was off, as well. I dont like the square between Venus and Mars, it creates fuzz but it is without substance. At least in my experience. It does grab the attention. But it ends there, the rest is not much to look forward to. |
Aries23Degrees | Venus square Mars with an ex. It was OK. Nothing too exasperating.I find Mars/Mars aspects equal similar approaches in sexual expression. Venus/Venus aspects equal similar tastes in hobbies and interests. Venus/Mars opp attract at first, then eventually part IMO. Venus/Mars square fight or irritate each other because of not quite getting what they want from the other. Venus/Mars conj like each other and energize each other's more leisurely side. I find Mars/Mercury or Mars/Moon hot. It excites me.

Solar_Leo_Queen | “Hottest aspects” don’t always mean compatible. I think people confuse this a lot. When people say “hot aspect”, I see it more as how they perceive the energies to be. I would imagine a hard aspect between Venus and Mars to be extremely powerful yet also be a heavy burden at the same time. That’s not necessarily compatible in my opinion. |

You like Mercury/Mars aspects? Even the challenging ones? This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone express that they like this in synastry.

You are correct Its just that if u have Mars contact strong in your chart, any connection that smells similar to your own internal strife feels like home. No matter how "dysfunctional" Some people find lack of squares in relationships too tame and boring. I am one |

Yes they are irritating. Sometimes even downright explosive. But I have come to realize that that is what makes me feel present in the relationship. As I said to Solar_Leo_Queen,I have those aspects in my chart. So they feel like home to me. Its crazy to admit this. And its not rational I know. But its the truth. |

I’m actually happy to know that someone likes this aspect in synastry! This aspect seems to come up a lot with people that I’m interested in, but I can’t seem to find any long term, healthy relationships where this aspect is present. It is definitely a pretty volatile aspect. Yet, I still seem to be attracted to people I have this with. I just wish it didn’t leave such a bad “aftertaste”.

Aquafine | Had this aspect with an ex, his Mars in Scorpio square my Venus in Aquarius, it was HOT HOT at the beginning of the relationship but later it just felt like he wanted sex all the time and alot of times I wasn’t in the mood when he was, it seems me and orange had similar experiences with this aspect lol plus it lead to so many arguments and bickering after the passion died and I felt that he was so aggressive with me sometimes and not in a hot way Another guy friend, I had this with had his Mars in Capricorn square my Venus and I felt nothing towards him not at all, idk about him but I guess it could also depend on the signs in the square This aspect by itself won’t hold a relationship together (you need other good aspects to support that) but it’s super great for a hot time |

I had Mercury square Mars DW with my ex. It was sooooo bad. I couldn’t do anything without him being annoyed and verbally abusive, which made me so resentful for years. |
Voix_de_la_Mer | I think if you have this natally it can work for you. You understand the tension and energy. I have natal Mars sq. Venus and my partner's Mars conjuncts my Mars. The conjunction of his Mars to my Mars and then both of them squaring my Venus will help also, because my Venus is already used to managing my own Mars which behaves similarly, in an energetic sense, to his, ITMS. ------------------ Face a situation fearlessly, and there is no situation to face ~ Florence Scovel Shinn ~ |
