T O P I C R E V I E WPinkPearls&StarsI got into a discussion today with a relative about revenge. She was coming up with these extreme and rather unlikely situations of where I would be wrong if I didn't seek revenge. Her most prominent argument was: what if you had a child that was raped, shouldn't you kill him?My response: murder is wrong, let the courts handle it, and lock him up so that he doesn't do it again. Her response: what if they don't find him guilty or they only give him two years. The law is undependable. You should kill him.My response: so I kill him and take the risk of going to jail for life or getting the death penalty and leave my child motherless? Instead I keep my faith in God that when he escapes he won't do it again and karma will come back to him in the next lifetime. Her response: but don't you want to see it and do it yourself?Mine: no, I don't need to.These are my beliefs and even though so many may disagree, that doesn't change my mind. I'm not to interested in getting into this argument again, but I would just like to know, does anyone agree with me? Not that it matters but I guess I just like to hope someone does pixelpixieI agree with you.I would feel murderous if anything were to happen to my children. But I don't think I could do it through revenge. I don't think I could kill anyone.HOWEVER.... we are talking in the revenge mode..... If someone is in front of me, hurting my child..... are you kidding me? Maternal instinct would make me do anything. But after the fact? Premeditated? I don't think I could do that. I hope that is NEVER challenged in me.This is interesting though. We were bar-be-quing tonight, and ran out of propane, so we drove over to the gas station to get some more. My daughter ( three) was having a nap in the carseat, in the back.Any other time/place/situation, you have self-preservation. We couldn't put the full propane tank in the trunk, apparently that is dangerous.... so my hubby put it in the backseat, next to her. I said "Whoa!!! What if that explodes? Put it up here with me, I'll straddle it on the floor, between my legs." I said this matter of factly. Then I realized... If this thing explodes, it explodes on me. I was okay with that, as long as my daughter was safe. That is what being a mom is about I think.. the essence of it. In what other scenario, would you put yourself at risk willingly? Happily, even.My husband did say.. well, if it explodes, we'll ALL go! That was comforting. 26taurus Pixie___________________I agree with you Pink...100%
