BloodRedMoon | I've NEVER been a teeth grinder but the past week it's just started seemingly out of nowhere. I know things are sort of stressful but I've seen SO SO SO SO much worse and never resorted to teeth grinding. I'm going to Germany in a week and a half. Stressed about the trip... EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, sure, still stressed. A lot of lay overs in airports and I'm nervous about flying since 9/11. Husband got laid off two Wednesday ago and we have NO savings. But that's OKAY because he has 5 places fighting over him now and it looks like being laid off is one of the best things to happen in a while. But he has to choose which place to work at and that's stressing HIM out so he's throwing up in the morning and that's stressing ME out. Generally, I'm a very laid back person! But I do pick up on the emotions of the people around me very easily. Not easy considering he's a MOODY Cancer. He needs to see the good and focuses only on the negative. Silly man. Places are fighting over him! So now my whole mouth feels funny and it feels like I had a mouthful of new teeth put in because they don't feel like they are lining up right. MAYBE I HAVE RABIES!! But seriously... should I chew gum or something? I don't want to resort to eating tons of junk just to satisfy my need to 'grind'. I was literally chewing on the edge of a pillow this evening while watching TV. It tasted gross. **help**

LibraSparkle | My mom's a grinder. She has a mouth gaurd for when she sleeps. See the dentist. Talk to him/her about it. ... wait... do you have health insurance? I tend to be very empathic too. It's hard to turn it off... or even distinguish whether or not the feelings actually belong to you, doncha think? |
Randall | Sometimes, a calcium/magnesium supplement will stop it (especially if you just started). Take a 2:1 ratio cal to mag if you can find it, and always take it on an empty stomach, as magnesium neutralizes stomach acids. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." pixelpixie | He's throwing up in the morning? Is he.................. Pregnant? Congratulations! You're gonna be a ..... daddy...........
Re; the teeth grinding. Mouth guard is a good idea, imo. Relax!!! It's all gonna' be perfect. Try to do the visualization thing.. meditate and picture light going into every part of your body - especially your head. Relax every part it touches. Lay-offs usually have a better/ higher reason. Good for him. |
Isis | I too grind my teeth, I have since at least HS, usually moreso in times of stress. I need to get a mouth guard, but it is usually not the first thing on the dentist's list of things to do. There's also the procrastination factor, as well as an aversion to dentists. Needless to say, I now have TMJ. Definintely get that mouth guard before you do some damage. |
BloodRedMoon | a mouthguard ~ Would I go around with a mouth guard all the time then? Because as far as I know I don't do it while I'm sleeping at all. It's been during the day. *sniffs!* Randall ~ I hadn't heard of that! I'll definately try that! pixie ~ lol! Definately not gonna be a daddy! He just works himself up for no reason. I'm surprised he doesn't have 3 ulcers. |
Aphrodite | hi amber, i got a dental guard a few months ago because i grind my teeth at night. the dentist choose a harder acrylic material to reduce the natural incentive to chew and grind. do you only grind during the day time? may be the ones for the day are different. the night guard makes my mouth look like Mike Tyson in a boxing match and i can't talk without slurring my words. the one i got cost around ~$365. the longevity depends entirely on how bad the teeth grinding is. best, aphrodite |
WychOfAvalon | OOPS! |
BloodRedMoon | I think it's only during the day. I don't wake up with a sore jaw or anything ((waits for comments from pixie)). And since Vin got laid off our health insurance went out the window. I can't even get a teeth cleaning. I didn't realize it was so common for people do grind at night! |
LibraSparkle | I would bet you are grinding at night and not realizing it. Ask Vin to to listen for you grinding while you sleep. I'd follow Randall's advice for starters. Who knows? Might just be all you need since it's a new thing for you and stress related. As for your jaw NOT being sore in the morning... I'm gonna have to leave that to Pixie. I just can't think of anything funny! *pout* ... maybe another pot of coffee would help |
FishKitten | Rabies.... I think it is definitely rabies. You're so funny, wych. *FishKitten walks off giggling and muttering the word Rabies* |
pixelpixie | You expected me to comment on the sore jaw? How about this... quote: I didn't realize it was so common for people do grind at night!
silence crickets chirping Why yes, it's pretty common for people to grind at night. Some are more morning people... others do it whenever the mood strikes them. I am one of the latter. I like to grind. |
LibraSparkle | ARE YOU SERIOUS?! |
pixelpixie | Am I serious? Oh, I am ever-so-serious about grinding. I luuuuuuuuuuurrrrrve to grind. |
BloodRedMoon | lol okay I didn't even catch that. I'm failing as a pervert! |
LibraSparkle | LOL neither did I. |
