Last week I noticed a thread about some old friends of mine and it reminded me of something that I'm sure they'd like me to pass on.One of the most life changing things you can do is anonymous good deeds. Whether they are big or small doesn't matter. The main thing is that you help an individual and that you remain as anonymous as possible. Dropping five bucks into the Salvation Army coffer is anonymous and a wonderful giving thing to do, and I encourage everyone to give to charities, but this is a bit different. Find a specific person or family and do something good for them. Then don't tell ANYONE that you did it. Ever. If possible, try to remain anonymous even to the people you help. If they must see you, try not to give your name or any personal information.
If you start looking for an anonymous good deed to do each week, you'll soon find that there are opportunities to do them almost every day. I suggest you take as many opportunities as possible.
And now for the reward portion of this activity. Although I'm sure such actions will stand you in good stead with whomever you consider God to be, they have much more tangible and noticable effects on the physical life you lead right now. Everything will begin to change in your life. The changes may seem a bit frightening at first, but that is just sluffing off old patterns and relationships that no longer hold heart or meaning in your life. Keep going. You'll find a really neat secret.
