mahatama gandhi. he fought without ever touching a sword. he fought with his brain, his spirit, his soul. and led a nation of 35 crore people to achieve independance. 35 crore ununited people, united under one banner... the mahatma. yet today th young make 'flithy' jokes on him, his way of living and his struggle. this messenger of peace held a global perspective. he saw the globe as one country. thus saw no reason to ask the britishers to leave by winning wars. and idealist admist a realist, he knew the nation was ununited and there was no way to win wars with the east india company. the very fact that 90% of the soldiers who worked under the company were indias was enough for this wise man to adopt a radical new stratgey... non violence. this bold move led 35 crore otherwise weak (let me be bold to say this too) and ununited people to freedom.
but today this nation has no respectfor him. some call him 'takla' in hindi meaning bald. some call him 'nanga' meaning naked. what a shame. did this nation even deserve independance?
but then he developed humility in him and made others develop it too. his battle was not againts the english, who respected him and even vote him the man of the millenium after his death. east india company was long seperated from the throne. his battle was against ignorance and violence.
with this thread i intend to know what lies in the minds of people ouitside india for gandhi (good, bad or ugly just speak it out) and to creat an awakening among fellow indians for the respect we should pray, to our holy father of the nation.
