T O P I C R E V I E WYang...when it comes to astrology books! It seems that libraries have a low stock on astrology books-never seem to be a wide range of them. I go to a library, ask them where their astrology books are, shown where they are, and find they have about only four-five books. I go and ask them if they have more, and they say that the ones I saw, are the only ones. It's at ALL the libraries I have visited.I expected them to have a wide-range of astro. books avaliable, but it doesn't seem to be the case.Anyone else experience this?shop22muchyeah I know its horrible, the same thing where I live...horrible....ive ended up donating a few books just to put more in there...they only have like 8 books, 3 decent ones...its sad really...------------------give me more Love, or more disdain;the torrid, or the frozen zonebring equal ease unto my paine:the temperate affords me none; either extreme, of love or hate,is sweeter than a calme estate- thomas carew " mediocrity in love rejected"think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. - K. THEREFORE we don't buy them anymore! It is less likely for us to lose new DVDs than spiritual books. Tells you something about those books' readers, doesn't it?shop22muchI found it humorous that yang asked a question, and yin had an answer....funny how that works...------------------give me more Love, or more disdain;the torrid, or the frozen zonebring equal ease unto my paine:the temperate affords me none; either extreme, of love or hate,is sweeter than a calme estate- thomas carew " mediocrity in love rejected"think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. - K. Gibranfayte.mYin....You are so right on with the stealing problem facing Public libraries.Even at a private one here at a New Age health and healing center folks steal the books. Various Spritualist Organizations and Churches with Libraries experience the same thing.Talking with Book stores, B&N, Borders, and others, they too say the highest theft rate is with the occult/astrology and mostly the Wicca material. The Colleges and some libraries have begun to only let patrons use them while at the libraries. They are in the reference section and not available for check out. Some can be ordered through inter library loan because tracking is heavily documented.Yes....it does make one wonder why the supposedly biggest seekers are the biggest theives. The next on theft items are DVDs/Graphic Novels/Religious material.------------------~I intend to continue learning forever~"Fayte"~I am still learning~ Michangelo The Door to Gnosis is never permanently locked...one only needs the correct keys and passwords. The pious man with closed eyes can often hold more ego than a proud man with open eyes. The local library has a handfull of astrology books and they are all old and not very interesting. Same thing with all metaphysical subjects.....and yes, one of our librarians is pagan herself and said all of the new books on witchcraft/metaphysics get stolen here too......... strange. Our local B and N has a huge section, however, which makes up for the lousey library. shop22muchmaybe theres a reason they take it, maybe they think if the books get into the wrong hands they will cause harm....(the witchcraft stuff anyways).....i get a feeling theres a cult reason behind it...------------------give me more Love, or more disdain;the torrid, or the frozen zonebring equal ease unto my paine:the temperate affords me none; either extreme, of love or hate,is sweeter than a calme estate- thomas carew " mediocrity in love rejected"think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. - K. What would guys do without us YangShop22-That is an interesting thought you said, but somehow I don't feel that is the main reason...LynxIt's the same in NYC too. The largest libraries here only have half a shelf. If I go to the local bookstore, the occult book selection gets larger around Halloween and smaller around Easter. So 3 shelves in the fall, 1 in spring. It's better in Manhattan though.
