T O P I C R E V I E Wneptune5This month, (well technically next month) Vogue, they're bringing back models, which is personally a relief to me, because i was extremely tired of those actresses.I liked most of them that Vogue featured. But I really like Lily Donaldson & Sasha Pivovarova. But what I found funny, was the only black one featured, is using a name thats not quite as original as the other ones. Well there was a featured model named Coco Rocha, but technically Coco isn't the name of a premier or lesser known designer, and her suffix was Rocha, not the designer Rochas. But the one i mentioned that wasn't as original named herself 'Chanel Iman'. I kind of looked at it and frowned and then i laughed, and then frowned again. Not just because its not original, but because its unoriginality may be quite a big setback for her in the modeling field. In fashion originality is priceless, its very important that in a field like modeling you have your own name, and that you are you and nobody else, so that others, including agents, prospective clients, and designers don't stereotype you on a basis surrounding your race and 'given' name.Does anyone have a similar or opposing view? Would love feedback.------------------Virgo Rising 8'57, Sagittarius Sun/4thH 3'26, Pisces Moon/6thH 8'22"Our passions are not too strong, they are too weak. We are far too easily pleased." - C.S. Lewis"Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror." - Kahlil Gibranstarr33No, Chanel Iman doesn't sound very original to me, unless she strongly resembles Chanel and Iman. Even then it still sounds like a wannabe. Do you know what her birth name is by any chance? neptune5No, but i'm sure i'll find out, with me going into fashion and all, but still i think its a hoot, and its sort of categorizes itself as fashion blasphemy. what a hootneptune5well this is what i've found so far: quote:And in case anyone had any doubt, Chanel Iman is her actual birth name. It was a no-brainer."from this website: http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2007/04/yale-university-chanel-iman-tyra-banks.php My opinion, its still not original, birth name or not.------------------Virgo Rising 8'57, Sagittarius Sun/4thH 3'26, Pisces Moon/6thH 8'22"Our passions are not too strong, they are too weak. Maybe it's because I haven't seen her much in magazines. Models need charmisa and a bit of spice to survive i say...I personally like Jessica Stam among them all, and the others that actually stand out to me (on the cover that is) are Caroline Trentini, Lily Donaldson...Well, they are quite popular and have done many ADs too.Sasha P. almost looks exactly like Gemma Ward...My goodness it's been so long since i've seen VOGUE...I used to be crazed about fashion designing...My fav. model is Kate Moss...She's got Capricorn/Scorpio...talk about keeping her cool.Taurus/Scorpio/Cancer
