T O P I C R E V I E Wfuture_uncertainWe all know that age is relative. But still, there are certain behaviors, thoughts and clothing that may be inappropriate after X number of years.I want to know 5 things:1)How old are you? (you can be as general or as specific as you like.)2)What have you outgrown or feel you should have by now?3)What will you never be too old to do?4)Give us an age-specific do or don't.5)(BONUS!!) Give us a new rule for aging gracefully. The purpose of this isn't to dwell on our limitations, but rather look at the ways we have grown and can continue to grow in the future.I'll go first. Not because I have fantastic answers (I have no idea what I'm even going to say. That's why I started the thread!) But I'll go first because... well... it's only fair. 1) I'm almost 32.2) I should have outgrown my need to explain myself to people.3) I'll never be too old to think outside the box.4) Women in your thirties: DO showcase the goodies, but remember that tasteful is sexy and a little goes a long way. 5) To grow gracefully, I think we should strive to be more patient with others with each passing year (including ourselves.)Your turn!future_uncertainI think this is going to be really fun. Don't let me down, guys!PearltyThis is going to be fun!!.. 1. I am 352. I have outgrown caring what people think..I worried alot about other's opinions especially in my 2o's..I hit 30 and since then, I live for what makes ME happy!!3. I'll never be too old too... play with play-dough..with the kids of course, coloring, blowing the dandelion puffs and making wishes, whistling with a blade of grass, taking a buttercup to see if I like butter, rollerskating, raking the fall leaves then jumping in..(this irks my husband hehe) my list could on and on...4. I'm going to agree with Future's answer about the age-related dress...I'm 35, and I know women who are my age and where their teen-age daughter's clothes..I think that is distastful...As for an age specific do; keep an open mind to music, If my daughter wants to listen to something specific in the car, I let her put it on for a little while...and sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised how much I like some of the new stuff..5. Well I'm going to state the obvious; practice and live-by immortality. Whenever I'm spiraling/reversing whatever you want to call it...I just know I have this glow about me, people look at me different, and of course I get carded like crazy for something as simple as buying beer..I love pulling out my license and seeing their face when they see I'm 35...I guess being a Gemini helps with a youthful appearance as well, but in the end, you only live once have fun..and don't take anyone or anything too seriously... future_uncertainI like your answers, Pearlty! Especially the one about the music. I usually get into my son's music (he's only 8 right now) but it sets the stage for supporting his choices later. And hooray for dandelion wishes! pixelpixienice! I shall try to give it a good go.1)How old are you? Will be 54 in November. My beloved is 39.2)What have you outgrown or feel you should have by now?My need for my family who disowned me for not being Christian and for having gay friends.3)What will you never be too old to do?Blow soap bubbles! Play in the rain! Eat snow! Catch snowfakes! Sunsets, sunrises, crayons, kites, kitties, tootsie rolls, lolly pops, kazoos, play dough, legos, etchasketch, sandcastles, dreams, giggles, collecting smiles, hugging, lying under the stars, catching fireflies,..sooooo many things! 4)Give us an age-specific do or don't.Don't try to look younger. Stay out of the sun between 10AM and 3PM.SMILE SMILE SMILE...even if you have to fake it! I mean BIG SILLY GRINS HERE! There is always something new to discover!Be grateful for each new day!------------------It is not about waiting for storms to pass...it is about learning to dance in the rain!__________________________________________________________________________blue moonI am of full age. Too old to feel obliged to conform to the paremeters of my upbringing. (It's hard to put what I mean here, so sorry if this doesn't make much sense)I will never be too old to forget about things for a while and have a bit of fun, share a joke, flirt harmlessly. DO AND DON'T Women: Don't cry and look pathetic to get your own way. It looks sillier the older you get. Do make an effort to be competent and sensible. Everyone will respect you for it, and as you get older your self-esteem will suffer less when the interest you generate from being young and attractive starts to wane.Men: Don't stand leaning at the bar staring at the barmaid's breasts with your tongue hanging out. It looks sillier the older you get. Do make an effort with manners and personal hygiene. We do notice, you know. No-one expects you to smell like a sweet-pea, but jeans need washing more than once a fortnight, that kind of thing. It is something I have had to point out to more than one friend wondering why he is still single. TOP TIPSMen: Men going bald look better when they shave it off. Don't bother trying to hide it. You can be a slap-head and sexual dynamite, the evidence is everywhere. A man over 35 with a waist measurement of 32 inches or less doesn't know how to enjoy himself ~ so don't worry too much if you have a bit of a beer gut. Women:Properly fitting clothes look better than insisting on wearing something in the size you were when you were a young girl. Throw it out, you won't be 18 again. Buy a new dress and congratulate yourself on how great you look instead.
