juniperb | Anyone watch it on TLC? Holy smokes a lady is addicted to breast enhancements and is a painful 38 double k cup. One is addicted to drinking nail polish and another eating tape ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ |
juniperb | When I submitted this topic I must have hit something wrong because the post showed up 4 times... my addiction perhaps ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ |
ariesdragon | Lol! I was gonna watch that hmmm |
SunChild | I think I saw one woman addicted to chalk once.
|
Ami Anne | My Aunt told me about this but I have not seen it ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

Cancer/Scorpio729 | I saw the episode about a woman addicted to eating toilet paper. She carried a roll with her everywhere in case she got a craving. |
T | Yes, i've seen a bunch of episodes! One person liked to eat the insides of couch cushions. Another liked to drink laundry detergent. The last one I saw the woman was obsessed with smelling mothballs. I think the ones who are addicted to chalky type things (one was baby powder, one wanted broken clay pots all the time) have a mineral deficiency that their body is trying to satisfy. I find these shows very captivating. I also watch Hoarders and Intervention a lot. Intervention is my favorite I think. Have not put the tv on since I came home.....will have to see if they repeat it later they usually do. |
T | 38 double K...? Yeah, sounds painful. Reminds of the one with the girl who was obsessed with going to the tanning salon. The saddest one I saw was a woman who's husband (boyfriend?) died unexpectedly and she carried around his ashes everywhere, then decided she wanted to taste them one day and ever since, she couldnt stop and would have a little bit every day. |
ariesdragon | OMG wow there's some crazy ppl out there Lol |
SunChild | The eating thing is Pica. I had it whilst pregnant, craved ice and I wanted to eat my fabric softener. I had to take prenatals rather than juice greens cos it would have made me dry heave. |
Randall | I've only seen two episodes...mainly by channel surfing and watching two in a row. Saw the chalk one and cig ashes. |
Randall | Oh, I forgot...I did see part of another episode where a lady kept chewing on fabric softener dryer sheets. |

Lmao that's crazy |
Lexxigramer | I used to eat coal but cannot find my favorite type any longer so eat charcoal tablets instead when I get the craving, but then crave moss or rock lichen. I also love the green on potatoes even though it is poisonous.------------------ NumeroLexigrams |

No offense but this ^ had me laugh out REALLY loud |
juniperb | Some really odd addictions... chewing dryer sheets .wow Drinking nail polish really threw me. I didn`t realize the program had been on the tube for so long. ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ |
ghanima81 | One of my roommies is into this show. She had it on last night, but I couldn't watch the tape eater. It just grossed me out. She left little bits of chewed up tape all over the house. I just kept thinking about the chemicals on the tape, and it made my stomach turn. She eats 14 miles of tape a year!! Frightful! There was a commercial for "My Strange Obsession" which will premiere soon. That one is people's collections. There was a husband and wife with a home FULL of Cabbage Patch Kids that they referred to as their "kids" or "babies". Wonder what the psychology there is! |
hippichick | I find this show quite comical. Isnt it ironic that we get to get notoriety from our "strange" addcitions, even get on TV, but when we have the addictions nobody likes, ie: over eating, substance abuse, gambling, sex, etc. it is hidden... Silly~ |
T | There was the one with the woman who bathed in bleach and could not stop smelling it. She cleaned her whole house a few times a day with it too. I can't believe some of these people havent died with what they ingest of inhale. |
T | I caught the latest episode late last night. Had to keep turning away from images of the nail polish drinker and the woman who had an ear digging problem (she used an arsenal of sharp objects to scrape inside her ears and couldnt seem to stop). Sadly, the girl who drank nail polish was continuing to do so (at the end of episode update).....and from my estimation, she had brain damage from it - she didnt seem all there. She also suffered at one point from a miscarraige, most likely from all the chemicals she was ingesting and later admitted to being molested. Most of these people devolop their obssessive compulsive disorder after some sort of emotional, sexual or physical trauma or abuse. Just like the Hoarders and drug addicts on Intervention. People will find many different ways to cope when they don't get the help they need after abuse or trauma. |
hippichick | and today? A pottery eater and a death addict |
SunChild | TLC is prob my fave channel. we only have pay tv because my hubby sells the thing. haven't had much time to watch it though. Anon, none taken. I used to look forward to running my dryer just to smell the fabric softener. yum. |
teasel | I can't watch these shows. |
