I've heard stories like this before so I'm not surprised. FaithThe mother allegedly fired a shot, but I didn't know that when I posted my comment. If so, THAT is why the SWAT teams came.Regardless, it's horrifying how often brute force is used to remove children from their parents over medical disputes. Ron Paul spoke about this event, introduced legislation to prevent mandatory mental health screening of children: http://paul.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1933%3Ano-mandatory-mental-health-screening-for-children&catid=62%3Atexas-straight-talk&Itemid=69 DeeI'll have to go look at this againFaithIt was alleged that after she refused to turn her daughter over to Child Protective Services, the police were called in, at which point she fired a shot or must have displayed a weapon...hence the long stand-off.She was acquitted, however. I find that odd...was there no evidence that she fired a shot? Or was the judge strangely lenient? (Edited)RegardesPlatero-FaithIF she fired the shot, I agree, that is way out of line. The mother says the daughter had vaccine-induced encephalitis, and the drugs they treated that with gave her the psychiatric symptoms. Before vaccines, the girl was fine. Reading the stories, it's hard to tell what was causing what. I think a doctor who tries to force the wrong drug on a girl using force (it was determined that it WAS an inappropriate drug) ought to be held accountable for reckless endangerment.
