aquaguy91 | how bad of an idea is it? lol because thats what i'm going to have to do. when exactly does mercury go retrograde? |
Virgo-AriesArtist | aquaguy, Mercury IS already retrograde as of yesterday...til March 17th. Good luck with your automobile purchase |
juniperb | Sometimes life happens and you have to do what you have to do. Good luck and shop very carefully. ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different. aquaguy91 | randall, do you still want to help me blow up the little pipsqueak? |
T | Just take your time with it and check it out really thoroughly. Don't let a salesman talk you into anything. Maybe get a second opinion on it and you should be good. |
Stawr | yeah I might move in with a friend during this time. |
aquaguy91 | i sold my old truck and bought the new one this morning. everything seems ok soo far but i still say we blow up mercury just in case. |
T | Finding your vehicle's battery completely dead is always fun. That was my excitement for today. Luckily I carry jumper cables with me and found a nice person with a car to help. My battery is corroded on one of the connections. Someone told me you can pour Cola on it to get it off fully. I havent searched about that yet. Does anyone know if it's true? |
T | congrats on your new truck. My truck has been very good to me so far. I've been lucky. |
T | word on the street is: Coke, toothbrush, scrub corrosion off and rinse with water although some don't recommend it and say use baking soda and water instead. I think I will try that one. |
aquaguy91 | yes it is true. and guess who is a cokeaholic? |
T | Oh, thanks! I will take your word for it then. I've baking soda, but no Coke atm..... i might give the baking soda a go first. Might end up needing a new battery, but I hope not. Will see if clearing the corrosion helps and if it was just a fluke thing. |
Lonake | O dear. I know you know this is the wrong forum for that. |
Aquacheeka | Ooooh... are you sure you wanna do that? |

Thank you ma'am. I will take that as my first warning (until we get a car repair forum up, of course) LOL Linda worked on cars like no other. |

What? Soda pop on the battery? No, I'm not sure I want to do that. But aquaguy did say it was okay. I trust him. Still going with baking soda first. |
YoursTrulyAlways | Go to the hardware store, buy 320 grit sandpaper and 600 grit. Disconnect the terminals and sand off all the corrosion. Finish with the 600 grit to a fine finish. Then do the terminals. When done, connect. And then slather a fine layer of grease to prevent further corrosion. Be careful of the coke trick. It's acidic and you may short out connections if you don't dry carefully. Be extra careful with baking soda too. It's alkaline. I truly wouldn't pour water on your battery. Wiping with a midly wet rag is different from pouring water. This coming from a car nut with a full garage. |
YoursTrulyAlways | Aquaguy91, Hey what did you get? Corvette ZR1? Dodge Viper SRT? Lol |
T | Thank you YTA!!! Awesome info. Just what i needed. |
