T O P I C R E V I E WDancing MaenadAs some of you know - and for those who don't - I just got back from a trip to Turkey. I was there for an internship that lasted 3 weeks but managed to visit a bit too. I was in Ankara but spent a few days in Istanbul as well.I might post some pictures later, right now my iPhone battery is dying and I lost my charger, so I am unable to reach my photos. I think it is definitely a country worth visiting. They're surrounded by 3 seas and OMG Bosphorus is so beautiful at night! Their hospitality is well known, as is their cuisine! Ay, my Taurus Venus had so many sweets to choose from! If I were to live there, I'd be so obese! Surprisingly though most Turkish people have a normal weight, and I have not gained a pound there, probably because of all that walking over their hills! I learned a little bit of Turkish but I can't make a whole sentence, lol. To me, it is a funny sounding language but maybe because I am not used to it much. I visited a few mosques while I was there and learned a bit more about Islam. I tried to maintain a state of objective intellectual curiosity instead of judging but I do have the beliefs that I do - or don't. So, who visited Turkey? Who loved it and who didn't? Which one of you is planning to go there?------------------~the raving one dancing in the nude~EllynlvxSo, that means you're Back?YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!Missed You.*sniff*Dancing MaenadYup, I am BACK! And I meant to comment, but somehow always forgot, but just saying seeing your pic(s) really made me smile. Glad you enjoyed your trip and are back safely. Dancing MaenadWith the sultan - trying hard not to burst into laughter (I failed, of course) These pictures were done at Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, which is one of the places the sultans resided, up until 1850-something, after which they preferred the Dolmabahce. They dressed us up like harem ladies and we posed with some Turkish guy dressed as the sultan. It was a lot of fun! I have a bunch of pics on a DVD as memory. I'll post some pics of the places I've seen, maybe tomorrow, have to retrieve them from the iPhone. ------------------~the raving one dancing in the nude~Dancing Maenad quote:Originally posted by Ceridwen:Ah beautiful! It is good to be back, from some points of view. From others, maybe not so much. Oh and I am pretty sure I lived in Turkey. In a previous life, I mean. ------------------~the raving one dancing in the nude~RandallGood to have you back!
