T O P I C R E V I E WUrbaneNomadHello,I did a Celtic Cross spread for a question I posed about a relationship. The spread came out very confusing for me.The staff cards are Eight Wands R, Ace of Wands, Chariot and High Priestess. As you can see the Outcome (HP) is directly opposed to the Guidance (CH).What do you think this means? OutcomeHi Urbane, So I took a look at this; granted it's a little different, because I wasn't there when they were pulled and feel their energy -- but this is what I get. The situation isn't good. Judgment in the 1st to me says someone has been wronged in the relationship (you, I think) and that the victim is seeking major restitution. The root cause is the Devil, so I get a sense of addiction (and with the 4 of Pentacles perhaps even co-dependency between the two or someone within the relationship is very clingy) and that maybe the other person was unfaithful. These three cards in tandem just scream jealously and bad blood to me. Not sure why, but they do. The past environment swirling around the issue was the Wheel of Fortune; this is becoming less and less about what the Universe and chance has in store and much more about what the person who has been hurt wants to do. The 5th, which to me in my readings is always how the querent feels, is Page of Swords reversed. Seems to me like you aren't looking for the truth/aren't ready to start actually looking at things for what they are. This page is all talk with little follow through; in essence his bite is worse than his bark. He holds back though for reason that are deeply entrenched in his self-esteem and self-perception. He doesn't do it out of malice or false bravado. It's much more emotional and sympathetic than that. In the present, the 3 reversed says to me there is an element of forgiveness that's being asked for, or at least considered. I think this has a lot to do with the Page not making a move. Forgiveness is black or white. You do or you don't. There is not middle ground. Seems stalled out on this, perhaps. Then we get to the staff, which is where your question lies. The 8 of Wands reversed says you aren't taking action and moving forward; it may be that you can't make up your mind, but much like the Page, there isn't anything making motions except the mind. You're caught in a rock in a hard place I think. The Ace of Wands in the outside environment says to me you are on the cusp of a new state of being and self-understanding. New passions. New belief systems. This plays into the Chariot which, to me, is always the need to make a decision and be firm. Stand by it and you'll be victorious, though it will be more of pragmatic win than a jubilant one (like the 6 of Wands). Think Julius Caesar. He was a fairly calculating and ruthless ruler in someways. This isn't to say you have to be a ball buster, but I get the pronounced sense that you are holding onto some aspect of this relationship, and that it isn't good for you. I think by forgiving and moving on, if not from the relationship than from the event itself, the High Priestess will strengthen your intuition and make you a better judge of not just character, but yourself. She will help you evaluate what you do and don't want, what you will and won't take, and what it means to be true to yourself. Sorry if this isn't applicable. It's just what I take from it. Sorry if I sounded harsh too; I didn't meant to be at all.UrbaneNomad quote:Originally posted by beccathelion: Hi Urbane, So I took a look at this; granted it's a little different, because I wasn't there when they were pulled and feel their energy -- but this is what I get. It seems very similar, but the emphasis seems to be a lot more on the decision and the really intense laboring that's coming with it. I still read the HP as coming to a new understanding and ability to house and channel your intuition. Can't seem to shake that. The Knight is interesting. His energy is much more homely than the Chariot, but with the same principles. Seems an emphasis on the past too, with the 6 of Cups. The desire to pitch this all over and have things how they were. Very interesting. Seems like the Universe is telling you something it really wants you to know, my friend.
