T O P I C R E V I E WSolar_Leo_QueenI've been really thinking about this a lot lately. Since the first semester, I have already felt like quitting university. I always felt like this just isn't right for me and that this is not where I belong. The feeling of quitting is even more pronounced now. There are quite a few reasons why I haven't quit yet and I feel very pressured by them. First off, I have a very conservative mom who thinks I should pursue some kind of higher education to be successful in life. She has really high expectations of me since I'm her first child. She threatens me by telling me she wouldn't help me pay my student loan if I drop out. Second is my friends. I have told them I'm thinking of quitting but they all told me it would be unpractical and unrealistic for me to quit university just to figure out what to do with my life. Even my own best friend does not support me. My friends always seen me as the person that's most likely to be successful, so there's definitely some high expectations there. The third reason would be me just being afraid of becoming a failure. I grew up being taught that without an education, I would fail in life. If I do not do things the traditional way, I would suffer. I have basically absorbed everyone's expectations of me and made it as if they were my own.Fourth would be me just being afraid to live life without my mom's support, but that really doesn't hold me back now.I just don't know what to do. Deep down, I feel like something is pulling me away from all of this. I feel like my life in university is just nothing but a drag. I feel miserable. But I am stuck in a place where I am unable to move forward. I don't even know what I would do after dropping out yet. What do you guys think I should do?lilypad18hi! would you mind posting your chart?Solar_Leo_Queen@lilypad18Hi, this is my chart. lilypad18I see you have Jupiter in 9th house, so this is a really good placement to talk about college. I mean, these would give you a lot of opportunities whenever in college, but not just in college. It can give you opportunities whenever talking about religion or faith.Just a question, could it be that you entered college with too much expectations?I think, and only think, that with Jupiter in the sign of Aquarius, you have luck whenever you do things differently. Does this apply to you somehow?Just one more thing, be careful with your friends. With Saturn in its fall in the 11th house, maybe you should listen too much to themSolar_Leo_QueenI entered university because I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. Now that I've thought about it, I realized it was just mainly because I wanted to impress my mom and to live up to her and other people's expectations of me.I do find that things work better for me when I do things differently. This is totally something I'm gonna be looking into. Also, do you think I have to listen to my friends? This is totally something I'm gonna be looking into. Also, do you think I have to listen to my friends? I think you should also follow Vajras advice, it is really good. try an search for some degree you would be interested in, and don't give up so easily. Also, do you have any plan if you drop college? Or you are just thinking about dropping itAbout the friends, I have this placement myself. Saturn in Aries in the 11th. Were you born in the 97?From my experience, the only time I had some friends that I spent a lot of time with, I mean, friends from my childhood, they always gave me bad advice in anything. They always wanted me to fail at something. DONT get me wrong, I am not saying at all that your friends want you to fail. I am just saying that you should be careful and you shouldn't let their advice determine your decision. Maybe they do really care for you and tell you that because they think it is the best thing for you.Usually Saturn in the 11th gives you a lot of limitations in regards to your friends and makes you feel sometimes isolated when in a group.athenaiaThe ruler of your MC (career) is in the 8th house, and at the apex of a yod with your Moon/Venus, so truly your "desires" lay not in the material world, but in the realm of investigation/exploration/things you can feel out on your own without rules or guidance. You're not necessarily into the clinical, theoretical vibe that university has to offer. The ruler of your 9th house (education) is ALSO in the 8th house, which doubles your inclination to explore interpersonal relationships/the deeper/darker side of life. There's a mystery to the world that captivates you, and you feel like you're wasting time so long as you're not actively participating in it. Your MC is also conjunct your South Node, so instinctually, you hate the idea that one needs to produce money in order to be considered a productive member of society. You deeply fear being stuck in a cubical for years. You hate that you're expected to commit to one career path. Because you're so in tune with your emotional sphere, you know you'll be unhappy in that traditional situation. You'll feel trapped. You're so many different people at once you don't want to push all those other personalities aside and just let one shine. It would stifle you. The ruler of your MC (Neptune) is also square Mars and Saturn, so while you have so many ideas bursting within you, you have zero practical application on how to make these dreams feasible. Maybe your self discipline has always been shaky when it came to studying and being forced to have a "one track mind" by teachers/parents. This will make life extremely difficult without a degree, I hate to say this. Usually people that succeed in life without a degree are deeply self disciplined and self motivated. They're people who force themselves to live on a set schedule even though they "don't have to" because they don't work a traditional 9 to 5.. yet they know structure is crucial to success. Your Saturn isn't very well aspected in your chart, so this will probably be a major theme in life you'll have to work on. Just to throw in some personal experience: I was the same way. We have pretty different charts, but I wanted to "experience what the world had to offer" - I returned back to university just before I hit my mid-20s, and let me say, life is a LOT easier when you have a bachelors degree. People regard you better, you have access to much better positions that yield favorable income, you don't have to succumb to retail or minimum wage (God willing) as long as you have a college education. Sure, things aren't as easier as they were for older generations who got a degree, but that piece of paper makes a massive difference in this world. I think you wanting to quit university because you're afraid to fail, more than anything, is your Saturn talking right now. You need to discipline yourself before you jump free into the "real world" and there's no better time to practice this than in college... my two cents. lilypad18 quote:Originally posted by athenaia:The ruler of your MC (career) is in the 8th house, and at the apex of a yod with your Moon/Venus, so truly your "desires" lay not in the material world, but in the realm of investigation/exploration/things you can feel out on your own without rules or guidance. I do find that things work better for me when I do things differently. This is totally something I'm gonna be looking into.
Also, do you think I have to listen to my friends?
