juniperb | Summers comming and a busy time. I need some yummy crock pot ideas so the family can still eat well and my cooking time is reduced. Meat & veggies are boring but that`s their preference. Is there a way to do the combo in the pot to transfer later to the grill?? thanks ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ |
hippichick | YES!!!!! LIghtly cook, with little water, am doing the same thing in my oven now, over hours then transfer to the grille! You can smoke anything! IF it gets too soft in the slow cooker, just wrap it in foil and open it up on the grille so the smokey flavors can get to it! |
Ami Anne | I used to try everything in the crock pot. I love soups such as lentil and split pea. It takes a second to make--the lentils and some carrots and onions. It is amazing. Makes me want to get it out again. It is kind of a magic thing how it is all ready as seemingly by itself lol ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. juniperb | Thanks ladies. The meats I tried cooking in the pot for grill later, was over done. Do I undercook it some to grill? Getting the hang of crock pot cooking has bedeviled me. ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ |
Randall | Yep, you don't want to cook it through. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark |
hippichick | Juni, yes undercook it. I find it easier to control the cooking if you do it in the oven, and wrap in a lot of foil first. I do brisket like this, the best in TExas!!! When you do get it to the grille, do not place on the fire, have it seriously smokin only, and you wont over cook it. luck!!! |
Randall | Crock pots are magical! |
hippichick | I discovered a few years ago, a slow cooker, you can adjust the temps unlike the traditional crockpot which has low, med and high. Tho the slow cooker is iron and I like the traditional porcelain of the crock pot. |
juniperb | the undercooking is a science in it`s self . I have managed to get some yummy ribs and pork tenderloin that awesomely finished up on the grill . Thanks!! ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ |

Gracelives | Throw green or red lentils, potatoes, carrots, onions, herbs like basil, rosemary etc, whatever salt seasoning you like, chicken or veggie broth, turkey meat (I use thighs), pepper, crushed garlic, and olive oil. Throw Near East brand Couscous in during the last ten minutes of cooking. http://www.neareast.com/#products/couscous It's awesome |
T | I want one. & a George Foreman grill.. grew up on cereal here. So cooking is sort of new and intruiging to me. I got to learn about good food from restaurants I worked in. I remember one of my best friend's growing up had a mom who used a Crock Pot all the time. |
