Dancing Maenad | You can read it online here. Enjoy and let me know your thoughts if you want! |
Aubyanne | Just started it, but I'm hooked after the story of The Master. Some predictable things are oddly perfect. |
GeminiKarat | It is an interesting read. I never thought that some of this statements come from the Toltec. |
SDragon | Gotta say, I love the Pizza analogy |
Einfühlung | Next time someone asks me what my views and values are regarding relationships, I'm going to tell them to read this. Most of it is mentioned in this book. Ive been introspecting for a couple years now and I still think there's long ways to go until I find answers within myself. "What is the purpose of life?" I ask myself this almost every day. Even when I think of an answer, I always question that answer. Then the initial question pops up again. Anyway, thank you for posting this insightful book!I felt mixed feelings while reading this because while it would be nice that everyone should follow this, it just wouldn't mesh with who they really are. Like the concepts, the numbing, the ignorance the book was talking about. Some people just live for the drama, pain and suffering and don't want to have real peace within themselves. It could be their lack of willpower, having fear, peer pressure, or how they grew up. It could be in their astrological makeup. I don't know. But yeah, more people should know of the pizza analogy. |
Astro keen | And remember to read this thread as well. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/005056.html |
Dancing Maenad | I am very glad you guys enjoyed it! Granted, it is not the best written book ever, I think it could've used a little bit more wit and irony to appeal to my Mars conjunct Mercury in Aries and of course it has that preaching flair that self help books tend to have. But I thought it was effective nonetheless. The passage that stuck with me the most was the story of the man who didn't believe in love. I thought that was a big lesson and perhaps where I always fail in a relationship: I put my happiness in the hands of another. |
Einfühlung | I agree if the book was more funny and witty I wouldn't have skimmed through parts of it 😅 It has a psychological and anthropological feel to it, imo. (My favorite subjects.) Oh the part with the man who didn't believe in love struck me too, though I really wasn't surprised with what happened at the end. I just really love stories like that--where someone ends up doing what they think they won't do.😁 The star analogy was great. I really like the Devine Huntress story with Artemis and Hercules. And the parasite. I've dealt with that before. Your other thread was a great read too. I'm sorry you're going through a hard time... |
Orange | Strangely, I read for about 15 minutes and nothing in this book, absolutely nothing captivated me. The beginning of the book starting with bashing the Europeans, the verbiage, the examples, the choice of words...ugh not for me. Here is my kind of books on this same topic ---> http://www.amazon.com/Care-Soul-Cultivating-Sacredness-Everyday/dp/0060922249 0 http://www.amazon.com/Soul-Mates-Honoring -Mystery-Relationship/dp/0060925752/ref=pd_bxgy_14_img_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=07A5Z15QX1JQNS5W7MB5

It's an easy read, but it might not agree with everyone. I try to not nitpick and just focus on the message, because to me that is the most important part. |
