Randall | Apparenly 2012 is just the end of a cycle and beginning of another. An older calendar was unearthed that shows the Mayans expected the earth to be around indefinitely. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Emeraldopal | I read that article on yahoo news... It's a cycle..it's all been done before...changes and transformations. ... ------------------ All my love, with all my Heart lotusheartone |
Blind writer | That's entirely due to media sensationalism. People, the masses, they latched onto the "end of days" theme, and the concept got stuck in their minds. If they looked deeper, they would have learned about the Mayan cyclic nature surrounding their calendars, and that the world has already "ended" many, many times, and will be "reborn" again just as before. Yes, a cycle is Ending. Nothing has changed. The details and particulars, however, are still anyone's guess. The Mayans were incredible astronomers, practically unparalleled by any ancient society. ------------------ Burning eyes since '95. --- Sun - Sag 10 | Moon - Lib 16 | ASC - Aqu 12 |

BlackSeraph | Awesome pictures up there! The more I thought about the 2012 Mayan Calendar thing, the more I realized that some people are likely hoping for an apocalypse as a means of escape of the humdrumness and the restrictions of this life. Not much motivation to pay the bills and plan for a future when you figure the world is gonna blow up anyways, eh? But no, that's not what's going to happen (unless some freak meteor shows up ) Mass hype and hysteria, plus people not wanting to take responsibility for their own lives and actions, minus deeper understanding is likely to lead to some people making some rash decisions down the road. I can only hope and pray that some sanity comes and calms things down. And besides, after 1993 (2000 - 7 years for the Tribulation), 1999 around August/September ("In the year 1999, seven months" a la Nostradamus), Y2K, 2005 (2012 - 7 years), and now 2012, I think some people will gradually get away from the doomsday-mania, unless something else catastrophic happens... at least until 3797 or somewhere around then when Nostradamus is said to predict the world's end. (I think I got that from a Nostradamus video somewhere, don't remember the title though, it's just been awhile). Oh yeah, and the turn of every century . And maybe 2666! I think a lot of people are setting themselves up for disappointment, and many others are going to have a flood of consciousness and awakening. Time will tell. |
Randall | I think the world will be around a few billion years (till the Sun goes kaboom). Who knows--by then we might be able to restart the Sun. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Mblake81 | Or be on a different planet. |
BlackSeraph | You're not the only one who's thought of possibly refueling the sun (or another star)... I can only wonder what mechanism we would have to do that though...? Maybe we discover something in the future that would allow this but would be considered metaphysics today...? |
Mblake81 | Everything is magic until it's something that fits in the palm of your hand, you know how to use it but not how it works. (agriculture seeds did this once.) A popular comedian this already. Cell Phone, you send your voice through a magic box to a person across the world. What with things like Iphone, pictures and videos etc. Need an app for bunny rabbits. |

SpooL | The earth is 4.6 billion years old and has at least another million years. If anything we will most likely end up dieing out similarly to the dinosaurs. Or try to evolve such as alligators/crocodiles and last another million years. --------------------------------------- Capircorn Rising Gemini Sun, 5th House Aries Moon Mercury in Gemini Venus In Taurus |
