T O P I C R E V I E WhannaramaaI drew five cards for this and got The lovers 8 of wands RX3 of cupsThe magician9 of swords RX.The lovers fit to me, 3 of cups fits, and even I can intuit the 9 of swords RX and someone who would relax afterwards, but the 8 of wands RX and the magician stump me in this regard. I feel like maybe 5 cards were too many for this but it feels like cheating to re-draw. The question was to describe her next sexual partner. Obviously with the lovers its someone she's meant to be with, no? And then I saw maybe the 8 of wands as saying they'd be a jealous person too. Or does it mean they argue a lot? What would you take the spread to mean? If not the whole spread then the 8 of Wands RX in this context?VenusDiSirius8/W is regulation. (if anything, I find it to work) Add 8/W Rx to Lovers and yeah, I could see him as insatiable, problematic even. 3/C + Magician - not from the same circles, or close company but certainly the same clique = there's a social aspect to the way they'll meet or something but it's not as close knit as friendship. This could point to him being very popular. Maybe his job? Party planner. 9/S - maybe an anxious mister. Or insecure beneath his capable facade. CeridwenI thought that was such a cool idea, so I borrowed your question for myself, drawing 5 cards:HierophantWheel of FortuneMagicianFool7 of wandsWhat are the odds to draw 4 majors? Not sure I've ever heard of it that way, can you explain some more?CeridwenIf 8 of wands is quick movement, does he get slowed down with the rx version? And yes, never heard of it as "regulation" either. What dos it mean?VenusDiSiriusBorrowed it from a booklet on Tarot de Marseille. Depending on how you read the Wands "story" ie whether you start to read it with the Ace or the King (the pure potential (Ace) vs the mastered potential (King) OR the mundane (King) vs the spiritual (Ace)) - we have:7 of Wands - 8 of Wands - 9 of Wands OR 9 of Wands - 8 of Wands - 7 of Wands Read ^ how you will, it makes no sense for 8 to be quick movement, and gawd did I try to incorporate that. That's not even in the nature of number 8. How does that swiftness of action connect 7 and 9 (or 9 and7) ? Is it a some kind of manoeuvre that brings the battling person of 7/W to the status of some kind of respite: injured but having won thier battle? Or is this an "intervention" (2 sets of 4 rods!), a regulative form? Is it a military form? Some kind of authority (we're talking about 8 after all)? Where are the people of this card? It brings about the image of unseen, omnipotent presence, this vacant 8/W of ours... Of course, I took into consideration the creative licence - but I've figured, we're dealing with symbolism in Tarot and I just can't dismiss* a certain imagery on the basis that the artist chose a more convenient route ie that they drew 8 of Wands in form of 2+4 (stability and foundation, the Emperor values) because it looks better. Just like I can't dismiss the 5 wands in 6/W or the one cup being offered in 4/C or 6/C.I've also used meanings like "fast news"/love on the horizon for 8/W. I'd tend to agree that the (re)action in 8/W is immediate but I don't think that falls under quick movement. ETA : Maybe 8/W is Deus ex Machina?? (hope this is an original thought, heh) It would fit nicely to the suit of Wands, next to the symbolism of no. 8;* not that I don't want to. I can diss them cards. Totes! ETA no.2 - the early depictions of 8/W are made of 2 set of 4 rods, but I've seen plenty of 4 rods + 2 rods + 2of rods. (so, naturally, we could frisky the story of 2 of Wands as well... ) And now, I am really going to bed. hannaramaaThat all sounds cool but...I'm still confused how that related to my spread 😭hannaramaa quote:Originally posted by Ceridwen:I thought that was such a cool idea, so I borrowed your question for myself, drawing 5 cards:HierophantWheel of FortuneMagicianFool7 of wandsWhat are the odds to draw 4 majors? Not sure what to make of this. lolMajors making up the majority of a reading mean there's karmic lessons involved and/or fate. With your draw, I would say they're independent and used to leading. Notice the vibe when you put the Magician and Hierophant together? Both require an audience (hmmm sound like anyone Ceridwen?) Both are masters of their profession. They don't look to other people, people look *to them*. It becomes even more in sync when you relate the nature of the Wheel, actually ruled by Sagittarius, to the nature of The Fool who's sign is Aries. < not especially significant but it backs up my theory that the Magi and Hiero belong together. This person is easy going and goes where the wind blows. It's possible they travel a lot and have a nice, positive vibe about them. At the end, the 7 of Wands speaks of resistance. Since its a minor card I'm thinking this may be what they're into sexually or they are perhaps unavailable at this time.VenusDiSirius quote:Originally posted by hannaramaa:That all sounds cool but...I'm still confused how that related to my spread 😭It's a convo. I didn't mean that it was off topic, I meant I still didn't understand what 'regulation' was.VenusDiSiriusWhen something happens to the guy in 7 of Pentacles and he ends up the way he ends up in 9 of Pentacles. He met... Law, rules, Karma, other people quietly intervening etc Regulation as in the act of regulating, fits the narrative nicely. Or I make it nice. littlecloudVenus, would you see a condom breaking as de-regulation? What about a lack of orgasm? VenusDiSiriusCreative! Creative. I like it. Maybe no orgasm would be a reversed 8/W, or depending on the rest of the spread. Jessica2407Taking his time, an unhurried sexual partner, either to make the pleasure lasts as long as he possibly can or someone who takes his time to get to the point of sexual intimacy, which I would interpret as such.
