T O P I C R E V I E WBendisThis is a theory I came up with one day as I was spiraling some thoughts into a notebook - not long after reading portions of Star Signs (for the third time). I realized this is just the place to share such a revelation, and was curious what you guys might think of it. With a good bit of help from Linda, this is what I came up with:****If you look closely at the Zodiacal sign for Cancer (the on-their-sides 69), it appears to be a hollowed out Yin-Yang (or so I thought). The meaning of the Cancer symbol is Creation. The 6 in the symbol is the number for the planet Venus, feminine energy and love. The 9 in the symbol is the number for the planet Mars, masculine energy and war. The combining of these two - Male & Female - creates a Child, the Third equaling Creation. The mixing of Mars/Male/Hate energy with that of Venus/Female/Love energy creates a "whole" complete circle - Balance. My interpretation of the Yin-Yang is the same - Balance. Dark and Light - the combining of two opposites to create a Whole (held together by the infinite circle). The small dots in each side explain that there is always a little Light in every Dark, and vice versa. There is a little of every Man in every Woman, and so forth. There is always a bit of the opposite in its counterpart. It's all about Balance. The Yin-Yang and the Cancer symbol represent the same, Balance of Opposites to create a Whole - the story of Creation. ***------------------The unseen, the unknown, the mystery - this is what drives me; propels me forward on new journeys as dark corners of my mind are lit with the evergrowing bright light of my enlightened soul.- mejuniperb Excellent spiraling Bendis.trillianI like your spiraling, but might not the balance of opposites be more likely found in Pisces, whose fish swimming in opposite directions also somewhat resemble the symbol for Yin and Yang?Actually...the potential for balance can be found in all signs I'm sure...and no sign stands alone without a birth chart for interpretation! BendisI had thought so, too, at first, but Linda says that the two fish do not represent opposites - being pulled in two directions (that's Gemini). She said the two fish represent the choice every Pisces has - to swim upstream or down; a very difficult and important lesson for all dreamy Pisces who prefer the path of least resistance. I realized that the theory didn't work with Pisces. I was drawn to Cancer, not only for its appearance as a hallowed-out Yin Yang, but because of the 6 for Venus and 9 for Mars - which represents an almost perfect polarity (love/agression, woman/man, etc) and how Linda said that 1 + 1 = 3 (Creation). I'd have to go back and find where I read all of that in Star Signs and how I applied it, though. trillianOh, I understand your points, Bendis! And I see the logic you used, too. It's very interesting...But to choose upstream or downstream are opposite choices, are they not? LOL I'm always one to stir up the pot!Anyway, my point was, that Yin/Yang just *is.* There's no exclusivity to any sign, any person, any life force. It is, as you said, the balance of life. Life is already perfect if you view it through the balance of Yin/Yang. Everything exists for a reason...a piece of a part of a whole. You might enjoy reading _The Tao of Physics_.No particular astrological sign can exclusively represent balance, because life the cosmos and everything, are already balanced. Of course, it's hard to remember that sometimes, when the bills need to be paid, or the neighbor's dog is barking while you try to sleep, or the scale tips too far in one direction... By the way, I have the symbol for Yin/Yang tattooed on my ankle... carrie..and the DIS-EASE known as "cancer" is caused from an internal lack of BALANCE of the YIN/YANG forces. this is why macrobiotics, which balances one's yin/yan, or "69", cures cancer! check out 'The Book of Macrobiotics' by michio kuchi....it has many detailed chapters on the spirals of the cosmos! lots of diagrams!SunShyneWOW! Frozen Queen*bump*
