Greetings...This is a multi-layered topic, and I'm not sure what the right answer is.
1) First I would try to discover if the Russian letters were ever also NUMBERS. Each Chaldee or Hebraic letter was also a number, so every Hebrew(Chaldee) word may also be read as a number. Is this true of Russian?
2) When the system was adapted to English, it was based upon the sound the original Hebrew/Chaldee letter "made" when pronounced, and then transliterated into English.
3) The Pythagorean System is based upon the POSITION of the letter in the alphabet, thus A=1, B=2... Z=26/8. Perhaps the same may be true for the Russian Alphabet, but IF the LETTERS were ALSO NUMBERS at some point in time, I would use that numerical value rather than it's positional value.
I'm not sure if this is as clear as I want it to be.. but it's the best I can do after having worked a 12 hour night shift! Please feel free to ask for clarification if I've muddied the waters in any way.
Hope this helps a wee bit...
Blessings...
Sleepy A
