Nephthys | A slow, patient killer: Vika Chervinska, an 8-year-old Ukrainian girl suffering from cancer, waits with her mom for treatment at the children's hospital in Kiev. Greenpeace calculates that more than 90,000 people were likely to die of cancer caused by radiation from the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, far more than United Nations' estimate of about 4,000. ~from SFGate.com Day in PicturesThis is so sad. It really reminds me never to ever complain about anything again. Once, when I was at Long's Drugs (a store), the young check-out girl had bright red color in the white part of one of her eyes. I asked, what happened? She said it was from the nuclear fallout from Chernobyl. Wow! |
sesame | Yeah, that's pretty sad... Dean. |
Kat | ...never complain and never judge. I recall an incident during my college days when a woman somewhat sarcastically/judgementally remarked to a mother whose daughter was coughing at a bus stop - "myyyy your daughter has a cold" The mother calmly commented "she has CF" (cystic fibrosis) |
sesame | Yeah, who has any right to judge anyone? (except judges). On a positive note, I just found this article (as noted in Slashdot) - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4923342.stm . It seems life is flourishing in the region, if not somewhat mutated. Dean. |
fayte.m | Reminds me of an incident where I learned never assume about physical things. There was this person I was aquainted with for years. They were very obese.Well...they moved away. One day I ran into them again and exclaimed... My God! You LOOK FANTASTIC! And they did look absolutely wonderful! The person smiled kinda strangely, shy almost...and I asked (being we had discussed being overweight years before, many times)... "so how'd you do it?" The person replied..."cancer". A few weeks later the person was dead. they had returned to the area to be with family and die there. ------------------ ~I intend to continue learning forever~"Fayte" ~I am still learning~ Michangelo The Door to Gnosis is never permanently locked...one only needs the correct keys and passwords. Moon666Child | I dont have words to say! My dad passed away suffering from stomach cancer, and it wasn't pretty! ------------------ Welcome Home to GhostVillage |
Girl of the Water | I still can't figure out why nuclear weapons even exist. They knew it would kill millions of innocent people, and damage the lives of millions more. They had to know that. It makes me so angry when I think about it. Not to mention the fact that it's almost impossible to disassemble one. And if the slightest thing goes wrong they'll explode right where they're being held. I really hope this Aquarian Age will be what everyone says it is... |
zannierose | I read a story about a woman with a tumour on her brain. Her daily motto was 'everything is perfect, I have no compliants at all' The tumour went, though it did not say how long it tookZannie Rose |

Kat | Fayte, That reminds me of my mother. She was overweight all of my life. She was stricken with ALS and dropped weight drastically. She looked thin but was dying. Another person I know, who has also passed, lost alot of weight with Weight Watchers --everyone complimented him. But then the weight just kept dropping and he was diagnosed with Cancer. He looked good, but ultimately passed. Looks are deceiving. (sorry about the smilie, all. I can't disable it)

fayte.m | Kat Sorry about your Mom and friends. My cousin was like your mom, but a young woman of 23 years old. She developed ALS during her pregnancy with her only child. The little boy is a sweetie, but he does not have a Mother now. He was delivered by C-Section because she was completely paralyzed by time he was born. She died afew years later. One of my sisters and an aunt have MS. Kamilla | Recently I found out that young woman who used to work in my office has an advanced cancer. Everything happened so rapidly. We all (at work) in the state of complete shock. She was having back pains and was told she has a cyst on her spine. By getting the second opinion she discovered that it was malignant tumor and that she also has liver cancer and breast cancer. All of them in stage three and there is no hope... or so she and her family were told. She is 33 years old and she has two sons 5 years old and 2 years old |
