It really annoys me when people talk about the Age of Aquarius coming "soon" or "a few years ago" because technically it doesn't start until about 2060.
Thoughts on this?

I haven't heard anyone say this! I can't wait till it does though. But I'll be careful not to say it will happen soon around you!

Hi QueenofSheeba.

You are correct. Technically it will only start in 2060 but the effects can already be felt. Each age lasts about 2100 years so in the bigger picture 60 years is not a long time. In individuals we feel our Saturn return for up to a year either side of it happening and this is only a 29 years cycle.

Well that makes me feel better

I thought it had already started and wasn't going to cash in on its potential.

Hi QueenofShebba

I agree with moonshadow.

For me,we are living a moment of transition between the Eras of Pisces and Aquarius and this is what affirms most of the astrologers.
With this transition of the eras, we already can see a break of old values, taking the humanity to review the concepts social, economical, political, and, above all, personal.

The transports and the mass communication grew ,we saw the invention of the phone, television, high technology, computers, satellite, internet and the globalization is consolidating every day.

We can notice that the current times are less dogmatic and more democratic, with the revolution of technology working as instrument of democratization , information and knowledge.

Also,it's visible the decline of Church power over most governments. Today, the Church can only advise and recommend .This shows the decline in the force of Pisces and the Great Religions .

These are all related to Aquarius in spite of the passage will only happen in some dozens of years.
For me what we are seeing is a 'rite of passage' for all humanity .

It is as the passage of a season for the other. The winter only begins officially in North America at the end of December, but two months before it is already possible to feel the cold.

SunnyDay, here's how it works: when the sun rises on the spring equinox, it is in a sign of the zodiac. Every 2060-2100 years, that sign changes. For the past 2000 years it has risen in Pisces, so we say this has been the Age of Pisces. Shortly (if we say that the Age of Pisces began approximately 2000 years ago)it should be changing to the sign of Aquarius. Each age is influenced by its sign: the Age of Pisces was characterized by struggle and sacrifice; hopefully, tha Age of Aquarius will be a bit more enlightened and harmonius.
I agree that we are feeling bits of Aquariusness already, but we still have a ways to go(there's still plenty of war and struggle going on). I look forward to where we're going!

Jacqueline -

Being an innately negative individual i may contest your optimisting viewpoint for just a few moments (so we dont get too happy and then caught out later!)

The current situation, as in the past twenty years, is also riddled by dogma, intolerance and empire building behaviour at large.

If i may put my outspoken viewpoint forward, I take the case study of the current so-called "war on terrorism" - a cheap excuse by an already dominant super-nation to expand its economic base by military action.

This feels much less like the sudden rush of releif the Age of Aquarius should yeild, more like a final, supreme effort before the ultimate apocalypse or the last strike of a broken system before it gives up its' long-overdue ghost to give way to something better (yes, i'm talking about the capitalist/western way).

Being an Aquarius, i've been dissapointed so far in the extreme and my hope that things will get better is not misplaced - they can hardly get worse!

Just some of my thoughts on the issue

btw n_w evil,
I am too
and greatly pained at the suffering of others, i.e. can't visit one of my home country's (mexico) due to all the kids begging for money and food- too heartbreaking. Well truthfully I am constantly heartbroken. I am somewhat of a social crusader- however I am not in my prime yet. So now you can say you met an Aquarius with humanitarian qualities

If you look at the technological advancement over the last couple of years compared to previous centuries it has to be influenced by aquarius as this is its arena. This is only a taste of the technology to come though. We are moving from our traditional piscean spiritualityto a more free and open aquarian state. Nothing is black and white though.

Hi N_wEvil

This is how I see life.
Do you know those funny caricatures of people that sometimes has a chin a little bit big and in the caricature appear completely exaggerating ?
The caricaturist exalts and exaggerates the people's outstanding characteristics, showing through the image, how he sees her. We can do with life the same thing. In the drawing of the episodes, we can exaggerate in the facts and events the good or bad characteristics, but that will depend on how we see the life, how we see the world.

But ,please, don't think that I'm Pollyana
Living in a country as Brazil, replete of social injustices, it is impossible to see the world with colored rose lenses .

I agree with you.The capitalism is ferocious. The globalization left the rich countries richer and the poor poorest.
The world is replete of injustices, wars, hunger, poverty, etc, etc. The war against terrorism it's useless. We cannot put an end to the terrorism with wars. Terrorism is a psychological factor, it is the fear for the fear.

But if we look back, things were already worse. The humanity's history is marked by wars, murders in mass, religious persecutions, bloody crusades and all kinds of atrocitys that only human being is capable to commit.

In spite of all those things,I am an optimistic person and I always will be 'cause I believe that everything has a larger purpose.
For me,the universe is a mirror and each person sees in this mirror reflected the result of their own creations. What we believe becames a reality.
For the good or for the evil, our faiths determine what we lived.
And the only way of transforming what is not working is transforming ourselves.

Yes,I see around me a lot of sadness, but at the same time I also see a lot of people wondering which it is the reason for that and trying to help others and also trying to find a spiritual path.
But ,for the Man of Aquarius could be really better ,he will have to love and to forgive, just like the era of Pisces taught us.

Please, feel free to contest me whenever you want.

N_wEvil, I agree with you assessment of the current political situation and I also agree that the Age of Aquarius may never come true-but on the other hand, all those doomsday prophecies might not happen either.
The "War on Terror" could either be the Age of Picses' last gasp or the first part of the apocalypse. Or maybe it's neither: just another chapter in the history of politics and capitalism.

J - "...agree with you.The capitalism is ferocious. The globalization left the rich countries richer and the poor poorest."

This is nothing less than what Marx (being, whatever else he was, a masterful "social scientist" and observer) predicted at the dawning of the age of modern capitalism played out on the large-scale.
It's always interesting to me when people are surprised by the current state of affairs (and I'm not including you in that group; I just mean in general).

Well, no one ever said that transition's an easy process...
at least, if nothing else, we're sure to live in interesting times.
- I sure am having fun stealing your smilies.

All you guys, great conversation.

Whether you realize it or not, you are typifying the entrance into Aquarius with your thoughts, rather than emotions. Leaving the Pisces age behind and all the water emotionalism will be giving way to thinking, which is what Aquarius will initiate via it's air qualities. Besides the technological advances from it's ruler Uranus.
