Dear Knowflakes,

Could anyone tell me if someone is born on or around a cusp, does that have some karmic connection? What does being born on or around a cusp mean?

My baby boy is born on 24th August - so I guess that even though he is a Virgo, he may have some Leo virtues or characteristics. Is that right?

Ta! (thankyou)

Love and Peace,
Sunmeadow Glades.

Hi,

I know that Linda didn't believe in "cusps" per say. For instance, I'm born on Feb. 10 which means I'm an Aquarius b/c the Sun was in Aquarius when I was born. So the Sun can only be in one sign at a time.

I think the reason people feel that someone born on a cusp exhibit traits of the neighboring sun sign is b/c other influential planets of the natal chart were in that sign when the person was born. I know that natal Mercury (and Venus?) don't stray too many signs away from the sun sign.

Some astrologers also write about the different decantes of each sun sign (the sun sign's dates are divided into thirds I think), and each decante supposedly exhibits different traits.

To get a good idea of your baby's astrological influences, you would use more than just his/her date of birth-you would use the year/time and place too to draw up a natal chart.

Ok, that's just my opinion. An astrologer here will probably give you a better answer.

Hello...

I AM an astrologer and Oxychick is 100% right. NO CUSPS! A cusp is technically a dividing line between HOUSES in an astrological chart, not signs.

People that are born early or late in a given period will usally have another chart factor in the "cusp sign" that allows them to see the characteristics of that sign in themselves. And of course if they are born LATE in a sign, their Sun will PROGRESS into that sign soon after their birth... but they are still Natally the Sign the Sun was actually in at birth.

Saying I'm a Virgo/Libra due to a cusp is simply SLOPPY ASTROLOGY.

Hope that helps...

Yeah..I agree with Oxy and Ase,
It's like a light switch. It's either on or off. The a planet is either in one sign or the other.
If people born near a cusp and find that they exibit characteristics of both signs then they usually have other planets in the neighboring sign to account for this.

Thanks guys for the information relating to the cusps. So, after reading the information you have given me then my little boy musy be a Virgo as you say.

I should get his chart done. Does anybody know of a good astrologer who doesn't charge too much for their services?

Love and Peace,
Sunmeadow Glades.

I'm in agreement with everyone so far. Alot of people believe that since they were born on a cusp, the posses characteristics of two signs which is absolutely not true. The cusps do CHANGE every year by a day or so, you might need an Ephemeris(a chart that tells you the planets positions)to look it up. You can only be 1 sun sign. A friend of mine(a Virgo) swore that she acted like a Leo half the time and Virgo half the time since she was born on the cusp. I looked up her chart and it revealed that her moon and rising were in the sign of Leo and that's why she had those characteristics and not becaues she was born on the cusp. Hope that helps!!

Well, one can certainly have traits of both signs, it is actually probable and likely, since you have to consider that one in three people have Mercury in their Sun sign, and one in five have Venus there, and they are two of three Personality Planets.

And bust this: since Mercury can never be more than one sign from the Sun, and Venus never more than two signs away, that makes the likelihood that Merc is in your Sun sign as 75%, since you can already rule our 9 of the 12 signs, and Venus, over 50%, since you must in fact rule out 7 of the 12 signs.

So the Sun influence, and the cusp sign influence, both are likely in most people. Of course your inner essence (Sun), can only be in one sign, that is only disputed by people who know nothing about astrology, other than "I was born on the cusp day." Even if you know someone is def 00° 01' of any sign. I am a 4° Virgo with Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Leo, and anyone will tell you that I display a lot of Leo traits. If I was a 0° Virgo, arriving here on the Leo/Virgo cusp day, guess what, my Mars, at 1° Leo now, would back up into Virgo, making me more Virgo. Yet a few days into the sign, and I come out that much more Leo cuspy! So what do you think of that, true believers? Straighten out that wrinkle

Love,
Carlo

Hi,

Just a personal thing on cusps:

I was always told to read both Libra and Scorpio because i was born on the cusp (its always difficult to tell what you are when reading horoscopes because the dates vary!), and recently finding out about Astrology a little, i realise you dont look at both at all. But i always felt it i was mostly a Libra with some deffinate scorpian traits. Turns out my Sun is in Libra but i have a Scorpio Assendant... well i think. Makes sence to me.

Cya!
