Just to see whether astrology works (let us see whether this topic convinces all members here that astrology does work).

In addition there were fireworks in another thread The truth about astrology!!(I forgot how many exclamation marks were there) by astrotruth.

Those who believe their sign does NOT describe them and description in Sun Signs does not match - do you believe that means astrology does not work?

Can't do much to help...
I'm quite a fishy, fish (as I'm discovering, much to my own chagrin - when I was younger I identified w/ my very evident Scorp Asc), even with all my Uranian and Martian influence.

HI All,

I would have to agree with Lost Leo. My Sun and Moon do fit me quite well, but I think I have a hard time seeing my Virgo ascendent in action, but I am still looking into it.

I think that just because I am scientific and can see the details does not take away from what my sun sign (Sag) indicates. Maybe having my Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in my first house is what gives me that drive to search under the surface or it's the Sag's need to know philosophy.

Looking at my entire chart...I'd have to say that it definitely describes "me"; for better and for worse, lol.

Because I've been studying Astrology most of my life, of course I understand more now than I did when I began, and I continue to learn all the time. Having said that, I would add that the more I learn about my chart (based on the "first breath of air" theory), the more convinced I become just how accurate it is...

My Sun, Moon and Ascendant, along with the other planets, house placements, aspects, Nodes, etc., all combine to portray the complex person that is me.

I have always viewed Astrology as a means to better understand oneself and others; our relationships with oneanother and ourselves, our "place" in this world. To that end...I am still learning and will continue to do so for my life's duration. I read somewhere (possibly in Debbie Kempton Smith's "Secrets From A Stargazer's Notebook") that having the Sun in the 3rd house (that's me), one is a Student of Life...and if I knew nothing else about my chart...this alone would describe me at my core, quite accurately.

Certainly, we are "all" Students of Life to one degree or another. What I am referring to here is the fact that I rarely reach any kind of final conclusion about anything or anyone; feeling instinctively that by doing so, I would be closing the door to the ongoing changes and growth that occur in all evolving souls.

Just this Gemini Sun's 2 cents' worth.

I posted this on another thread but figured if I re-posted elsewhere I'd up my chance of an explanation

My sun is Scorpio... I see it as does other people. My moon is in Libra... I see that as well. My Asc. is Libra... now the question... If a person has their moon and asc. in the same sign than how can they tell if their Asc. suits them??

Just curious.

Pidaua: You said that your Jupiter and Pluto do certain things... What would a Pluto in Libra and Jupiter in Leo do?!
Sorry guys... I'm still trying to grasp all of this.

Also, Twin Lady... You're a Gemini with a Scorp moon right?? What is your Asc.?! Just wondering as I know someone with the same sun and moon.

Hi 1scorp

In answering your questions: My Ascendant is Pisces.

As to your having the Moon and Ascendant both in Libra, the only suggestion I could make would be to consider what the Moon and Ascendant represent (ex. Moon - emotions, how we react to things, our needs, etc., and Ascendant - physical appearance, how the world perceives us, etc.), and ask yourself whether the Libra characteristics fit one or both of them. Keeping those Libra traits in mind...would you say you respond/react emotionally (Moon) in a Libran manner? Then for the Ascendant, considering the physical appearance of Libra (actually LG's Sunsign book is a good reference here) ask yourself if you fit the description at all. A good place to start, I would think, anyway.

I can imagine that it would be a little more difficult to discern the subtleties between the Moon vs. Rising Sign characteristics in your nature, but with that probing Scorpio Sun, I'm sure you could do it.

Now with me, and TO me, my Sun/Moon/Ascendant traits are each accurate, if not surprising, to others and at times to myself as well.

As a Gem Sun, I am eternally curious, always asking questions, constantly communicate to to others what I've learned, and need to read like I need air to breathe. But...I look nothing like a "typical" Gemini at all. However, I do look very much the Piscean...from the hair and dreamy eyes right down to the small feet, lol. Also, until someone really gets to know me, they get the "impression" that I'm this friendly, easy-going gentle soul, which has unfortunately led some to believe they had liscense to take advantage of me. And for a long time, they may succeed. BUT at some point my Scorp Moon takes over and its intensity will drive me to say and do things with such power and force that some who confidently "think" they know me, get the shock of their lives.

Anyway, I hope this free associating helped a little. See what I mean? Typical Gemini running off at the mouth (or keyboard) again!

Raj, I don't think _any_ astrological paragraph or report has ever been able to adequately describe the reality of _me_. Descriptions may outline some traits, but each individual deserves a book about themselves -- or at least a short story!

I started out a skeptic regarding astrology but once I gave it serious, critical study, discovered that it _works_. It's an amazing system for discovering and understanding one's nature, and that of others, although like pop psychology, "lite" versions of it can be superficial. I would be the first to say it's hokum and snakeoil if that's what I found (Mercury in Taurus by way of Aries foot-in-mouth Ascendant ). I would also be first to encourage everyone to make up their own minds, and not follow a guru. However, I would be the last person to claim it's the Be-All and End-All of everything; I don't think anyone, or any system of knowledge, has a monopoly on the truth.

People change (thank gourd!!!), and happily we can decide with our Free Will what we would like to do, and be, with what we have, and are. We have natural reactions, but we can choose our _responses_. Astrology of any kind is only a tool -- it's not a religion or esoteric Way of the Illuminati.

I know little so far about Chinese, Vedic, and other esoteric forms of astrology, and wish to keep an open mind, but it's true that with the further explorations in space, we are discovering new planets and influences, and astrology is evolving too (such as Chiron, asteroids, etc. -- see Aselzion's forum for discussions about Vulcan and Minerva, for example).

My two and a half cents' worth,

HI 1Scorp,

I am going to paste some info that I found on the web regarding the Pluto in Libra and Jupiter in Leo (right now you must have the current Jupiter in your sign )

Also, I'm not sure if you have Pluto conjuncting your Ascendent as well. That would reinforce your Libra rising and moon, but would also give you a dose of Scorpio (since you are already a scorp, you would really have those penetrating eyes).

Here's what it says about Pluto in Libra:

Pluto in Libra:You have a well-developed sense of justice, excellent social instincts, a love of beauty and a need for balance and harmony. You must consciously acknowledge and accept your responsibility for your fellow man and must learn to settle conflicts peacefully rather than with violence. Your adaptability allows you to clearly see all sides of an issue, but may leave you unable to decide which side you support. You can be fickle in one-to-one relationships and often provoke minor quarrels in your family. Your passion and sexual energy need positive expression and you must avoid becoming jealous. You'll witness new concepts concerning marriage, justice and law.

Jupiter in Leo: You're affectionate, ambitious, generous, helpful, intelligent, optimistic, self-confident and self-reliant, but if afflicted, you can be arrogant, extravagant, intolerant, self-inflating and snobbish. You have strong vitality, but may have heart and/or weight problems. You love pomp and display, especially in religious affairs and express your power and dignity with a sense of drama. Creative talent is usually expressed through theater, teaching or working with youngsters, for whom you have a special liking. Time spent developing intellectual/artistic interests usually proves beneficial. You have leadership and organizing ability and are often a natural entertainer or public person. You act while others dream, but you're apt to have a big ego and rash judgment. You have a great desire to impress others by attending or throwing lavish parties and social occasions. You expect personal admiration in return for generosity. You must learn that greatness comes from unselfish giving. You have the ability to cope with almost any situation and to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in others. You have an affinity for gambling and speculation but should avoid it if afflicted. If heavily afflicted, there is disappointment and loss in love, romance, children and speculation. If afflicted, faults stem from overdoing. You're attracted to religious and/or historic art. If the fifth house is unafflicted and Jupiter is well aspected, your children achieve honor and distinction.

I really like what Twin Lady said that the astro chart gives a complex disciption of who we are. I am like you Scorp, still learning, something come to me easily, but other bust my brain...LOL

Twin Lady: Yes I know what you mean about the questions He's always asking me questions. He'll ask me something and then turn right around an hour later and ask the same thing again!

He has a Leo Asc.
Thank you for your insight.

Pidaua: Thank you as well. Well my Pluto and my Asc. are both sitting at 17*! With Pluto in my first house. They are conjuct 0* 09. Also my moon conjuncts my pluto!
1* 52 in the first house. Good Grief!

So, as you said that sort of puts an extra dose of both in my personality?! Also, my sun squares my jupiter. Is that bad?!

Though I have 5 planets in Scorpio. If it's the case that I have a healthy dose of Libra does that mean that I'm able to get along with air and fire signs a little easier???

Thank you for your time. Also, if you're like my friend who's a Sag. I realize that you're extremely busy... so if you can't get straight to the questions I understand

My asc is odd, but perhaps I am young and cannot see it in myself yet, or perhaps it's in something else. My Aquarian sun and Taurus moon fits like a glove a pretty rainbow one!

Hi 1Scorp,

Here's what it says about Pluto Conjunct Ascendent. I am listing two different references, only because you do have to take some of these with a grain of salt:

Pluto Conjunct Ascendant: Mercury and Saturn must be strong and well aspected to provide the mental capacity and self-discipline needed to constructively use the available power of this aspect. In its highest form, you're able to see reality as energy and the workings of subtle forces, and your ability to tap these forces of nature for self-regeneration gives you stamina and willpower. You're aware of the need to redeem yourself by applying that will to spiritual development, but this may give you the appearance of being cold and distant since your attention is focused on a higher dimension of being. Your intuitive ability is strong and is consciously and deliberately applied. You have great power that can be used selfishly and destructively if unevolved. You tend to have a very impersonal and universal attitude toward life and even yourself, especially if highly evolved, enabling you to exert subtle, yet far-reaching, influence upon your environment. You're aggressive in a secretive and subtle way, and if afflicted, although you're obstinate and self-willed, you're not motivated by selfish personal gain. You must continually regenerate the image you project to the world, especially in matters related to the house with Scorpio on the cusp. In the first house, the traits of the rising sign are intensified and you can be domineering or have intensity, directness and a tendency to destroy life patterns and start anew. In the twelfth house, these traits are unconscious and you may have deep-rooted psychological problems.

***For myself, I have Scorpio on the 3rd house of neighbors, communication and siblings. I did grow up with some sibling rivalry, intensly so with my ex-step siblings (Spawn of the wicked witch former step-monster). hee hee... I do have the capacity for writing and can sometimes really tear a person apart verbally and in written form, but again, I have tempered that with total patience and discipline not to mention my empathetic nature makes me put myself in their shoes and that's never comfortable after being mean.
Second Interpretation:

The conjunction of Pluto to the Ascendant means that you have the power to determine the kind of world that can be constructed from its available resources.

You can play an important role in urging the public to eliminate the parasites who cause decaying social conditions and the depraved human qualities that lead to them. Because you speak and conduct yourself with authority, no one dares dismiss you as a troublesome critic. You are not easily aroused to taking action unless the situation is serious. If it is, you will use every trick you can devise to compel those responsible to take the actions that are necessary to restore order from chaos.

In general you know what you want out of life and are ready to make any investment in talent and effort to realize your goals.

Choose your adversaries with care, or you could antagonize someone who would deal violently with you. You tend to bring out the worst qualities in people.

**** It is true, that those of us with that whole Pluto conjunct Asc have to be careful with how we carry ourselves and how we antagonize people. I used to get into the heads of people I didn't like and would just stare them down and torture them. I would have to be really angry to do it, but when we are young we tend to do stupid things. I also believe that the conjunction allows us to "project" ourselves onto people, which can also be bad, especially against their will. In the same respect, it is hard to get inside our heads or make us succumb to peer pressure.

Moon Conjunct Pluto: You're impulsive, fearless and willing to take risks. You often seek drastic and extreme changes and mood/attitude changes occur suddenly and explosively with little regard for previous effort. You may be obsessed with or try to dominate others in sexual and/or emotional relationships. Your feelings are intense to the point of being brusque and tyrannical and you may alienate women. Love is very important to you and you're constantly seeking emotional fulfillment, often in creative fields. You may have psychic or occult tendencies and are open to the superphysical realm of manifestation. Your interest in spiritualism and life after death may allow you to be aware of the spirit world. You tend to let the past die and create a whole new emotional life, even dealing drastically with your family and making sudden changes on the domestic front.

I would think that you have a healthy dose of Libra and Scorpio qualities. My guess is that you would do quite well in a career that would put you into the investigations of wrong doing for the goal of justice and fair play. Very Scorpio / Libra.

I think that Scorpio is probably one of the main water signs that can really get along with fire signs, maybe air - if like in your case - you have a healthy dose of air. Water signs and fire signs are both very emotional and passionate. Not that other signs are detached and unfeeling. My brother is a Sagittarius with a Scorpio moon and Pisces Ascendent. He is married to a Scorpio woman with an Aquarius Moon. I don't know her rising sign. They do get along on many levels, but her emotional reaction is a bit more detached than his. (But he does carry a grudge) LOL

Yeah, I am pretty busy, but I do love to help and post what I can. I know that I really do like it when people post things for me and listen when I go on a long blab fest!!! So Saggie!!!

Have a good one!!

Oh yeah, Sun Square Jupiter:

Sun Sextile Jupiter: You're popular, broad-minded, generous, charitable, intellectual, judicious, optimistic and self-indulgent. You have an innate intuition that enables you to find constructive and positive ways to overcome problems. You can be lazy or apathetic unless the Sun or Jupiter had a beneficial aspect to Saturn. You rarely want for anything --you have spiritual protection that brings benefits and harmony through the men in your life, although the benefits may be spiritual, mental, emotional and/or material in nature. You enjoy good health unless you over-indulge. Your outlook is religious and/or philosophical and you usually accomplish what you set out to do due to your positive outlook. As a parent, you're kind and benevolent to your children and a good provider. You may prefer a simple, wholesome life to one of opulence. You like to travel and seek friendship with foreigners to learn their culture and lifestyle.

Hope this helps.

Hey Pidaua
Good job. Thanks for posting that

So your 3rd house ruler is Scorp hey...Mine too and yes it does give us the ability to "rip" someone apart verbally...if we are pushed to much.

I was when you said (in one of your earlier posts)....
"I think I have a hard time seeing my Virgo ascendent in action, but I am still looking into it".
The "looking into it" is veerrry Virgo

hello raj,

well, i have to admit i do not appear to be aries about 96% of the time. auriel and pearly have met me and they both say they would have guessed a water sign. growing up, i did not pay much attention to horoscopes because the aries naive impetuous bursts did not fit me well at all.

the retrograde peregrine planets in saturn in virgo, and uranus in scorpio describe me so much better than the planets in aries. especially the uranus in scorpio. i won't go into details.

cheers,

aphrodite

peregrine means unaspected, sort of, right Aphrodite?

I don;t know how Aquarian I am (Sun, Merc and Mars)...but my Gemini Rising seems to fit as I can appear somewhat fickle and I can babble like there;s no tomorrow. I also think my Leo Moon fits pretty well, along with my desperate lack of water placements (only Urinus in Scorp. in the 6th). From what I've read, I'd also say my Venus in Cappy fits me pretty much to a "T"...
