Something that never occurred to me until now:

That this dramatic ambivalence between my tendency to be cool, aloof, detached, objective, rational, etc.,
and my tendency to be loving, sympathetic, empathetic, emotional, sentimental, maudlin, gushing, etc., -
is almost definitely due to the fact that
I have a stubbornly reticent Aquarius Moon in the 1st, and an (at least) equally stubbornly effusive Venus/Sun/Uranus/MC Conjunction in Scorpio.

With Uranus "behind enemy lines", as it were, it would appear that the Aquarian nature could have a serious edge.
On the other hand, the Moon, being in sympathy with the more watery aspects, would suggest that Scorpio has spy of her own;
and a rather critical one, at that.

The moon and scorpio are both representative of emotions and the sub-conscious,...
while the sun and aquarius are representative
of cognitive, conscious processes...

These alternating drives, to display my affection (for everyone and everything), and to remain "sensible" (whatever THAT means), are having a serious tug-of-war with my psyche.

Is it any wonder I sign myself,
Two-Headed Boy

Hey - don't worry about it. LOT's of us here talk about the same thing, and I being one of them.

I give out unintended vibes which can go from hot to cold. Examples :::

Libra Sun vs. Cancer Moon
Venus in Virgo vs. Mars in Scorpio

One of the methods you can use is to think of each of these as characters in the play that is you.

I'd have to see your chart info to test a couple of more complex theories I have, but I've seen this a lot with Aqua moon, especially paired with Fire or Water Sun. Is your moon a singleton by chance?

The problems start with that an Aqua moon is at odds with itself - Aquarius just isn't very accepting of the moon's emotional, intuitive and receptive nature. Being typically Aqua (stubborn and overly rational to a fault) it seems to try to force the moon into a corner it doesn't want to be. It's like Aqua in this placement plays mind games with its native, cooing into his or her ear that they're rational, detached, aloof...all the while the moon itself is having an hissy fit and running off with its native's emotions and unconscious behavior in a very non-Aqua vein. If there's strong water or fire in the chart (signs that more freely express emotion, especially the pent-up type), it's like the moon energy flees to that planet like an upset child flees to the sympathy of their grandparents, until Aqua, the uber-rational disciplinarian, hunts it down, drags it back and tries to make it behave. This can produce some extreme flip-flop feelings in the native, who might experience episodes of emotional "exploding" or "spewing" followed closely by a desperate, rational need to "pull oneself's together."

We can see this is action in one of our most high profile celebrities: Britney Spears, a Sag with Aqua moon. It's well known and well documented that whenever Britney has emotional conflict, she attempt to appear rational, inteligent, collected, cool, then "erupts" with weird, impulsive, very Sag behavior: gets a tattoo, smokes and drinks in public, flies off on some uber-expensive "vacation", gorges on junk and fast food, rents a private jets to fetch coffe, cheats on her boyfrined, has a "dance-off" with her ex in a club, cancels multimillion dollar tours, gets a quickie marriage, etc. It's like her Aqua side attempts to rein in her moon, which tend climbs out the window and goes on a party rampage with her far more understanding Sag sun. Then she quickly pulls herself together, calls her agent and lawyer, contacts the press, gets an annulment and then carries on like "Who me? Implusive? No!!" The girl's Aqua moon is majorly conflicted and out of control, which is fun for the rest of us to watch but pretty sad for her.

OK. Back to you. Add to this, your moon's squared your Sun sign, which always adds a lot of conflicts. With a water-air square these conflicts work like undercurrents: you show one on the surface, while another is struggling underneath, trying to get to the surface. When that other side does, it's like you're a different person - at least on the surface. Fixed sign squares like this tend to be more black and white too, as each sign are far less willing to comprise and "blend" which is the only way to resolve a Sun-moon square (I know cos I'm living with one - Gem sun with Pisces moon, two dual mutable signs. It's like a swinger party!).

This seems even more problematic because of your Scorp Uranus. Uranus likes Aqua best; the moon likes Scorp a lot more than Aqua. It's like sign envy or something. Your moon probably wants to resolve with your Scorp Sun and Venus, which are more sympathic to its intuition and receptivity, and you feel that tugging on you. But your Uranus turns it away, like "Hey you got it good in Aqua!" Uranus is probably telling you that you should be more Aquarian than you are, and maybe more than you can be realistically (Uranus isn't the most realistic planet, especially in an water sign). Your feeling that you should be more Aquarian is likely very attached to your sense of ego, since your Aqua moon is in the first. And you thought you couldn't be more conflicted!

Wait - there's more! Some square are squared in their triplicity: personal, social, universal. Scorpio is a social sign; Aqua an universal. They have not only differing temperments, but different outlooks. Scorp wants to care about friends and its social circle first and foremost. Aqua is driven to a more universal, humanitarian level. Add to this that the moon is the most personal of personal planets, and in the most personal of personal houses, the 1st. You're probably deeply conflicted over who and what needs to be taken care of first: yourself, your relationships, or your lofty ideals. This is simply a matter of sorting out priorities (not something Scorps are often very talented at, I'm afraid), but with such strong crossinfluences, there's always going to be some nagging feelign like you're overlooking something. You'll have to learn to live with that.

But I think looking at the conflicts between the tripicities will help you sort out some of "tug-of-war" because it'll help you understand what direction each planet and sign is heading in. Your moon is in a position of great influence, but in a sign it just doesn't agree with well. This is a great starting place - look at how you can better attend to your moon's needs. I've found Aqua mooners have to get to some point where their both satisfying their moon's personal outlook and the Aqua's universal outlook. It's a balancing act. But contemplate and work on this part of yourself first, then move on to other areas of your chart that are a source of conflict. Balanced Aqua moons can be quite insightful, resourceful and self-reliant, and quite capable of finding solutions to their native's personal issues.

Gem,

Wow!, that was so spot-on, and in so many ways, that I really don't know what to site as especially typical of yours truly, 'cept maybe:

"You're probably deeply conflicted over who and what needs to be taken care of first: yourself, your relationships, or your lofty ideals."

Who have you been talking to; thats what I want to know (he-he).

And who would have thought I had that much in common with Britney Spears (who my friends and I affectionately refer to, in forced, thick Bostonian accents, as 'Bitney Sears, guy')?

Seriously, though, it reminds me of that Nirvana song, Lithium:

"I like it, I'm not gonna crack.
I miss you, I'm not gonna crack.
I love you, I'm not gonna crack.
I killed you, I'm not gonna craaaaaaack..."

Yes, the moon is a singleton, unless you include the Ceres asc in Cap, and the moon/juno conjunction and EP in Aquarius.

I do have a lot of fire in my chart. I'm progressing through Sagittarius, which contains a Mars/Mercury Conjunction in the 10th, and Neptune in the 11th. There is a stellium in the 9th, which begins with Pluto (ruler of my sun) and ends with the affore mentioned Sun/Venus/MC/Uranus Conjunction; Uranus carrying it over into the 10th. Jupiter is in Leo in the 7th... And Aries rules the 3rd (empty, but for the Pars Fortunae, which i know nothing about). Chiron is also in the 3rd (in Taurus).

My stats:
11/06/1978
approx. 11:38 am
Boston, MA

And I'd be interested in giving yours a peek, as well, if thats cool... I've known 3 Geminis, and they've all taken a real shine to me (and me to them) - the first is the mother of an ex... she is the most tragic, demonic, pathetic, and pitiable person I have ever known, but she treated me like her only friend (and gave me hugs that were rather embarrassingly reluctant to quit). The second is my friend's "wife" (for all intents and purposes), who was an independent film actress, and is just too cool for words. The third is my current therapist, who I imagine myself in love with, from time to time. All three of them look like puppydogs with their tails wagging when they see me - their look conveys, "Oh goody, goody, here's come's Steve, the only person who ever talks to us!!!" I've always gat a million things to talk about, and they adore that - which quality I in turn adore (adoring to be adored, as I do). Also, I have known a few Pisces Moons, and I am just too damn grateful for their presence in my life for words.

Take care,
H.S.C.

I am Pisces sun and Aqua moon, the funny thing is I can be detached,do things on impulses. I can be very eomtional and very sensesitive. I just not to long realized how detatched and aloof I can be. Only thing when I am inlove I can't be detached I want to be in contact not 24/7 but some. My guy is a Aqua so he tends to detach often. I have gotten use to him doing that and am now learning how to do it too. It is tripped out that Aqua moon learning alot about that and myself..
