According to myth, at Chiron's death, Jupiter placed him among the stars in the form of the constellation Sagittarius. Is anyone aware of what other deep affinities Sagittarius and Chiron might share, aside from their both being centaurs?IP: Logged |

There is so much more to Sagittarius and Chiron both being Centaurs...According to Susan Miller (www.astrologyzone.com) Sagittarius is symbolized by THE Centaur- Chiron, the Wounded Healer. Being a child of Jupiter, Sagittarians have the ability to form their own universe (if they are highly evolved). Like Chiron, evolved Sagittarians are to use their gifts of healing, prophecy and wisdom for the betterment of society and the overall universe. If they follow their "animal" side, then like the myths, they become violent and prone to starting brawls. Chiron was a teacher, philosopher and healer who had been inadvertently wounded by an arrow shot my Hercules. He knew that he could no longer endure the pain and asked to be changed into a mortal in order to die. But, in exchange for that sacrifice he asked that Prometheus would be released from his pain and torment. (He was a Titan that had been chained to a rock by Zeus for punishment for challenging the gods). As you may remember, it was Prometheus that stole fire from the gods to give to mankind in an act of compassion. His punishment was to have his liver eaten everyday by an eagle- only to be restored at night. The gods looked upon Chiron's action with favor and honored him with making him into the constellation of Sagittarius. Chiron also spent much of his time in his cave upon Mount Pelion, meditating and studying medicine (much of it being homeopathy and herbel remedies). He was no recluse though, because he would venture out to socialize to teach others what he had learned. It is said that some of his famous pupils are: Jason, Achilles, Aesculapius (the great physician) Actaeon (the great hunter) and Aeneas, all of whom he trained for battle. So although we Sagittarians are Jupiter's children (or Zeus if you prefer) we are symbolized by Chiron, the ultimate Centaur and one that we should all strive to emulate....that is if our rear ends and big feet don't keep getting us in trouble. Thanx for the info, you two (and for the link, Pidua). Somehow, as a Scorpio, I relate very strongly to the archetype of the wounded healer,... it seems to resonate with what I know (and experience) of Scorpios, more than Sagittarians; especially the inner conflict between destructive, animalistic, and healing, humanistic drives.... It would appear that there is an almost identical principle at work in the way in which Pluto effects transformation (the wounding - death - and healing - rebirth).Thanx again for the info, ~ HSC IP: Logged |

Yes, I can see how a Scorp would identify with that energy.Sagittarians are always at odds with our animalistic and philosophic sides. We are the teachers of the zodiac, the physicians / healers and we are also the rebels - the party people...etc... A true Sagittarian has wrestled with both and gone from severe isolation to attention $lut in their lifetime. Maybe you have a strong Jupiter in your chart or a prominant planet in Sagittarius - which is causing you to feel the way that you do. Then again, we all go through stages and maybe you are starting to experience the Sag stage in life. Be that as it may - Chiron is all Sag IP: Logged |

Hey Pidaua -You just brought up some interesting stuff. I've always resonated with Sag's influences, both male & female. The only two guys I'm talking to right now both have Sag Asc's and a LOT of strong Sag influences & aspects in their Charts. My Descendant is in Sag. Sag's ruling Planet is Jupiter > my Jupiter is in Capricorn in my 9th House (which is ruled by Sag.) One guy is a Cappy Sun, the other a Cappy Moon in the 1st. (Sort of similar influences I was attracted to way back when, so I guess I'm coming around full circle. Hope I don't pass the exit this time.) I forgot what someone was referring to regarding this time of my life, but I'm supposed to be in a Sagittarius phase now, supposed to be really long phases, maybe started with my Libra Sun? I don't remember I've gone from "severe isolation to attention $lut" - and I thought maybe it was my Leo influences at cross puposes with my more modest placements. But I do have a strong Scorpio side and I think Sag's like Scorpio's. They also like Capricorn's, were my Jupiter is in the 9th. I'm also a Libra Sun in the 5th. But I can't rid'em bareback like I used to. Unless something totally lights my fire. But I'm still in a planetary lull, and totally in true love. His birthday is soon and I'm going to make a special note in a creative way, and write on it - You're "the one" I'm not even concerned about how he will handle it anymore. I think we may have gotten over that hump. Oh- sorry - back to subject - and I have strong "healing" influences, such as my Natal Venus & Pluto Conjunct in Virgo in my 4th House. Or through my writing - Moon in Cancer in my 3rd, or all my Scorpio influences being in my 6th, my MC in Aquarius, or my Chiron in Pisces in the 10th. So although there is nothing with a lot of Fire of Sag influences in my Chart, there's a theme which can run along a Sag for while. More specifically, serious and unsuperficial Sag's who have a goofy soft side for me. Now that I place Chiron with the Centuar, I see further growth potential for me and other's with Sag influences. Hi AJ, I am wondering if you are a Sag by progression? Have you checked astro.com and looked at your progressed chart? I am in the very beginnings of the "Aqua" stage with my moon in Cancer. Personally, I can identify with Scorps - having Jupiter and Neptune in Scorpio and Pluto conjunct Asc. Sagittarians are hard to understand - or at least that is what I am told. It is hard for a creature to be ruled by two halves. One half wants to do what is right for all -the other half wants to have fun. There is always a bit of an inner conflict and almost all Saggies, no matter how outgoing NEED to have isolation time. In American Indian Astrology the period of Sag is represented by the Elk. A Creature that is social, but has to spend half of their time in "high places". Like the Elk, Saggie people or strong Sag planets can cause a person to also want to have those times to spend in the "high places" of the mind or in nature itself. You do have alot of Saggie qualities - I noticed that from the beginning. But...you are a pure Libra- which has it's own beautiful blessings. If only a Sag could be as diplomatic as a Libra LOL As you describe it, you chart does have heavy Saggie influence- specifically the Jupiter ruled 7th house and Jupiter in the 9th house. I can see why you would attract that sign into your life. How else are things going? How is the writing? Talk to you soon - Blessings!!! Shawnee IP: Logged |

Yeah, of course I'm head-over-heels in love with Mr. L still, and I look to all his Libran influences to soften up his Sag influences, and his Cappy Moon in the 1st.The Cappy Sun guy is too harsh for me - Mars in Aries, Mercury & Jupiter in Sag. Plus a Venus in Aquarius - his Libra Moon doesn't soften that up enough. Plus he has NOT ONE Water Sign. Yikes! Must one choose between No Water, and a Mars in Cancer? As for my writing, I'm still not ready to dig deep yet, I've even had to stop thinking about writing because I was reevaluating all my motives in life. I thought maybe I'm having trouble with it because my motives are not correct or pure. It took doing a lot of "forgiving myself", and right now I'm trying to decide where to go. I'm ready to backpack it, but also need to know what Mr. L thinks before I make a total fool of myself.

Oh - I just looked up my Natal & Progressed on astro.com, and the only thing in Sag is my Mars in my 7th. Jupiter & Saturn remain in my 9th.IP: Logged |

I currently have my progressed Sun, Mercury, Mars, Neptune, and MC Progressing thru Sagittarius, which could explain why I am so apt to label these Sagittarian influences as Scorpionic..... In fact, it wouldn't surprise me, now, to find that much (more) of what I generally attribute to my Scorpio Sun, is in fact Sagittarian in nature (going off on my own to "re-charge", for one thing). Still, it will probably be a while before I am able to figure this all out..... ------------------ "All is true." - William Shakespeare IP: Logged | |
