What is exactly a stellium, is it a good or bad thing?

A stellium is a conjunction of three or more planets. The tighter the conjunction, and the more planets it involves, the more powerful the stellium is. It is a place in there chart where there is a lot of energy focused. The house in which it happens is therefore emphasized- the matters of that house. Also it emphasizes the sign that the stellium is in- though it can sometimes span two signs.

also, I got this from astrology.com:
One more complication: A Planetary member of a Stellium is subject to the influence of aspects to other Planets in the same Stellium, even if the Orb is too wide to normally include that Planet. This is called aspect by association.

HI sweetface

Ive a stellium in Scorp - sun, venus, merc, jupiter, neptune, so you could say I was very Scorpionic, especially as they are all in the 8th house (the house of SCorpio) - OUCH that sounds mighty.........challenging!!!!

Stelliums are like a lot things in astrology - it depends on how you chose to respond to it and use it. Stelliums are "energy pools" and depending on the chart they may or may not express themselves readily. In charts where a stellium is not bullied by other aspects or is in a comfy house, they express themselves readily adn often, for betetror worse. In cases where the stellium is afflicted, energy tends to collect there, and can cause a energy drain on the rest or the rest, making it harder for the native to use any of his/her chart energiy, OR it can buld up and "explode" irregularly, causing impulsive and erratic behavior int he native.

Either way, the native needs to learn how to live and work with this energy, because it is a force to be reckoned with. Because stelliums are powerful, they can dominate the native's life, acting out its own agenda and dragging the native in tow. The native has "own" their stellium, which takes study, discernment and practice, in order to use their stellium as they wish, rather than have their stellium use them.

This works similiarly for most aspect configurations actually, although normally stelliums, afflicted or not, are the easiest tolive to work with (or so it seems to me with my 3 distinct and rather uncooperative aspect configs LOL). Aspect configurations are mighty powerful tools - and like any tool, you need skill and experience to use them properly.

Ok, now I am confused!
I am not sure if I have a stellium or not. I thought if there were 3 or more planets in the same sign or house, it was classified as a stellium.
For instance, I have mars, pluto and saturn in the 5th, and only mars and pluto are conjunct. I have venus, uranus, neptune and jupiter in sagittatius, but uranus and venus are in the 6th house, and the rest are in the 7th...

So do I have a stellium by sign or house or what?

Gemini,
I'm pretty sure they need to be conjunct to make it a stellium, but I guess if the orb is wide then it can be a "loose" stellium, just less powerful than if it was a tight conjunction. For your venus, uranus, neptune and jupiter- it doesn't matter that they're not all in the same house- but are uranus and venus conjunct, and is one of them conjuct neptune or jupiter, and are those two conjunct? The degrees matter most- not the sign or the house, in determining whether or not you have this configuration.

I have a stellium in Capricorn in the 4th House. I don't really give much weight to it, considering the planets involved. Anyone born within two years or so of me, and who has a late Virgo to early Libra rising has the same thing.

hey geminirising,
it appears that you don't have a "real" stellium, but you do have a whole lot of powerful conjunctions (like Mars & Pluto- almost precise - I'd say there is a lot of "energy" concentrated there).
That Venus/Uranus conjunction must be pretty interesting.. hhm.
You have a very interesting, well-balanced chart.

sweet,

your Saturn, Uranus & Neptune could perhaps be considered a stellium, though the Uranus conjunction is pretty "loose". I feel like it's only really felt when there is a nice little bundle of planets with very close degrees. I mean, I'm sure your Saturn/Neptune conjunction, loosely conjunct Uranus is felt in some way- and they're all in the same sign- three outer planets in Capricorn, that means something. It's just that the stellium energy is described in a specific way- where the planets are so close they almost act like one integrated force. I have a Sun/Venus/Mercury stellium in Aquarius in the 4th house and I really would say that I feel like those three planets act as one, and they basically make the same aspects to other planets because they're so close, so they're this little Aquarian threesome opposing and dealing with the rest of my nutty chart. That's how I see a stellium. A lot of energy very specifically focused. Jupiter is also in Aqua, but farther away- and I really don't feel like it's part of the team. It does its own thing, has its own aspects.
