I have had my astrological chart done through two seperate companies. However, my ascendant has been different in each chart. Here is one chart: Born on May 20, 1976 at 2:45 AM in Calgary, Canada Tropical Koch Daylight Savings Time observed GMT: 08:45:00 Time Zone: 7 hours West Lat. and Long. of birth: 51 N 03 114 W 05 Sun 29 Tau 27 Pluto 9 Lib 09 Moon 23 Aqu 25 True Node 12 Sco 25 Mercury 29 Tau 41 Asc. 27 Aqu 18 Venus 21 Tau 39 MC 16 Sag 28 Mars 2 Leo 11 Ceres 4 Can 16 Jupiter 13 Tau 00 Pallas 19 Tau 34 Saturn 28 Can 29 Juno 6 Vir 26 Uranus 4 Sco 06 Vesta 26 Tau 24 Neptune 12 Sag 58 Chiron 29 Ari 34 On my other chart it stated my Ascendant was Picses. I feel confused as to which is actually accurate and wonder if maybe I have two? Any knowledge is welcome IP: Logged |

The answer is yes and no.Differing systems of astrology can produce different ascendents. Normally my asc. is scorpio but when a member here did my chart using the "whole house" system it gave me a saggitarius ascendent. the reality is that there is no correct way to do astrology, it's a matter of style, preference and experience. you will need to talk to a more experienced astrologer to learn more. btw, would you mind posting the links to the two websites that you got your differing charts from? i would like to check them out. Hi diviniTIf you gave the same birthtime (as birthtime indicates your ascendant and all your house rulers) for both charts, then maybe the two companies used different house systems, like the Koch or the Placidus house system for instance. Here's some info on house systems. http://www.byzant.com/astrology/houses.asp quote: House SystemsIt was mentioned above that there are a number of different house systems, and the one used depends on the preference of the astrologer. The simplest and most compelling is the Equal system, which starts with the Ascendant and divides the chart into twelve houses of equal length. One of the most commonly used alternatives is Placidus, invented by Placidus de Tito in the 16th century. As with most house systems, Placidus does not work at all when a chart is for extreme northern or southern latitudes, as the Midheaven is related to the highest point the sun will reach in the sky on the day in question. Another common system is the more recent Koch, developed in the 1960s by German astrologer Walter Koch. Other, more rarely used house systems include Campanus, Porphyry and Regiomentanus. Each house system is different, so the house a planet is in for any given chart depends on the house system used in constructing the chart. Some astrologers favor a single house system, whereas others argue that different systems suit particular purposes, and may use one system for natal charts and another for predictive work. Like any systematic combination of symbolic meaning, astrology is useful from the purely subjective standpoint of self-exploration, even if there is no knowable or actual correlation between the positions of the stars and events on earth. For those wishing to promote astrology as a largely objective, scientific discipline, the houses really are a major problem. A chart drawn up with one house system is different from one produced with another, and astrologers cannot agree on which house system is the most valid, even for a particular type of chart.

Also, by glancing at the chart you posted my bet is that the pisces asc. was a result of the "placidus" because the chart you posted used the "Koch" method which is generally a little less popular from what I can tell.that doesn't mean one is better than the other, heck i don't even know what the differences are! Neither do I beebuddy. I dont understand why Placidus is more popular than Koch. IP: Logged |

Thanks beebuddy and DayDreamer interesting information. As for your ? regarding the links. I actually paid for both charts to be done the one that is posted was done by a chaneller Margaret Birkin from Australia her organization is www.maitreya-edu.org. (fascinating Ascended Master info) The other chart that isn't posted was done by the Edgar Cayce Foundation www.edgarcayce.org. Now where do I go from the fact it could be either or? How did you discern your Ascendant? IP: Logged |

diviniT,Your Ascendant is 27 Aquarius. The Pisces Ascendant is incorrect. Unequal house systems (methods of dividing up the chart into 12 unequal parts) do NOT affect the placement of the Ascendant and the Midheaven. So the Placidus and the Koch house systems both have the same placement of the Ascendant and Midheaven. Perhaps by examining the Pisces chart more closely you will find that the birth information entered for the chart is incorrect. Explaining houses, Tim IP: Logged |

I find Koch and Equal to be more accurate. The best way is to check the readings, and see which house system describes your personality best.

Same thing would happen to my sister. One site would say she is leo rising and the other would say taurus. it is definitely taurus. Astro.com is accurate.
Trust them. ------------------ Gemini sun, Cancer rising, mercury in Gemini, moon in Taurus *29, venus in Taurus, mars in Libra "You must live in the infinite blackness that exists when I close my eyes. I see you when I fall asleep, I see you when I dream." - Talib Kweli IP: Logged |

astro.com use Placidus. They are reliable, but I wouldn't say most accurate. Some of their stuff I can't relate to at all. IP: Logged |
