Astrologers everywhere are saying this is a bad time to start new stuff etc, that anything started now will "never work". I'm referring here particularly to people like Molly on North Node, who really gets my goat.

This is absolutely crazy. I have just started my own business, and quite frankly, whenever I have started s/th new, it has not mattered a jot whether Mars, Mercury etc. were retrograde. I feel that sort of dom-and-gloom astrology is a little irresponsible because for me, it has been REALLY, REALLY important to get certain things off the ground NOW, otherwise I just wouldn't move forward in any respect.

I am not gullible but there are plenty of people out there who are. How can they print such stuff? That's hardly the way to ensure positive growth!!!

Rant over.

AT,

are you talking about newspaper/TV horoscopes? They *do* say vague things which could apply to everyone as much as no one. I, for one, don't believe there's anything to those since they don't even consider your personal energies.

On the other hand, serious astrologers tend to talk about periods of easy vs tension, challenges that bring growth, etc, but hardly ever anything put in black-and-white terms.
Besides, they always try to remind you that free will can overcome some of the tendencies indicated by an astrological chart.

Just my opinion there

Btw, good luck with that newly started business!!

Retrograde Mars is now playing tricks to my 9 hs. I feel absolutely lazy, apathetic and stupid (hugs & kisses to retrograde Mercury ) not willing to think and act at all!!! Though I'm supposed to be busy with my home tasks as I started a training course recently. But I've chosen to read LL threads instead of Management I'm terrified even to THINK about next-week exams

AT, as a norm I don't say "don't start new things" during retrogrades (although there may be exceptions and I try to be more specific). But usually during retrogrades of personal planets, we are less attuned to our surroundings and more likely to misread others or jump to the wrong conclusion. For these reasons, I usually advise people to plan well and in advanced, keep things simple and be patient if things don't go smoothly. Actually that's good advice at any time, but during retrogrades it seems good to remind people this.

During this particular Mars retrograde I have been harping on one speicifc issue - these retrograde makes people more vulnerable to being taken advantage of by less ethical people. This is due to 1) being Mars (makes people impulsive), being in Taurus (makes people more focused on self and personal comfort, so they dont' think about others' motivations), and 3) combined with other transits, in particular Scorpio and Sag transits, Saturn in Leo and the current Neptune-Uranus mutal reception.

The other thing about this particular Mars retrograde is money issues - people may be not thinking very well ahead due to this transit, and make very impulsive choices with their money.

Earlier I advised here for people to not spend so much during this retrograde and focus on family and friends. In terms of gift-buying it'd probably be better to hold off until the 9th of Dec when this Mars goes direct for these two reasons.

However life does goes on during a retrograde, and so it's simply common sense that some broad sweeping advice isn't that realistic. Many astrtologers observe that retrogrades serve a "sensitive" period where we should focus on practicing basis skills - being patient, being ore self-disciplined, etc. - that the rest of the time we either asume or forget about, usually becuase things are a little easier. I think that's rather realistic, as it doesn't ditate that we should put our lives on hold for a few weeks.
