quote: Uttarayan begins when the Sun enters the northern solstice to start the second half of its journey. Uttarayan The Indian winter solstice has traditionally been celebrated as Sankranti or Pongal. This day is called Uttarayan, which means "Northern journey", and marks the beginning of the sun's ascent. Makar Sankranti marks the end of a long winter with the return of the sun to theNorthern Hemisphere. According to the Hindu astronomy the sun enters the zodiac of Makara (Capricorn). Hence, it is called Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti. The special significance attached to the celebration of Makar sankranti, is Kite Flying. The gods who are believed to have slumbered for six long months are now awake and the portals of heaven are thrown open! The serene blue sky with colourful kites look splendid and since morning to evening, remains dotted with vivid splashes of colour with kites in a variety of hues, shapes and sizes. UTTARAYAN (Journey to the other side)

Also found this, but according to this information it seems that Uttarayan (also known as Makar Sankranti apparently) occurs on Jan 14 and not Nov 28 as the article stated, or maybe the dates change every year? : quote: 5. The Sun is the soul of our solar system. The earth takes about 365 days to go around the Sun. During its cycle, when the North Pole of the earth moves towards the Sun, it is called Uttarayan, i.e the Sun is in the Northern Hemisphere. It then takes another six months for the South Pole to be towards the Sun. This is called Dakshinayan. The North Hemisphere faces the Sun as from the 14th of January, on the day of Makar Sankranti. 6. In Jyotish Vigyan, Uttarayan Surya is considered as the days of the Gods and are thus very auspicious for the celebration of marriage, undertaking all sacraments (sanskar), starting a construction or entering a new house, starting education etc. 7. Sankranti itself means the entering of the Sun from one sign of the Zodiac to another one. Because there are 12 such Signs starting from (in western astrology) Aries to Pisces, there are also 12 Sankrantis in a year, each having its own specificity, peculiarity and importance, especially for celebration of certain rituals. Makar Sankranti is the passing of the Sun from Sagitarius (Dhanus) to Capricorn (Makar). This Sankranti marks the end of Kharmas and invites for celebration of auspicious ceremonies.
what i am getting out of this is that it is in general a good time to start new things--perhaps like a pluto transformation coupled with jupiter moving direct or something for good luck, in western terms. since it is both good for new beginnings, and for transformation, maybe it is something that would interest you. i think i remember you as being a Sag sun/Scorp moon.
