Uranian Astrologers prefer Meridian. Midpoint specialists use Companus/Ebertin. Eastern peoples use Vedic...Placidus for the West. Can any one agree? Or are they all valid? Some house systems put my Pluto in the 12th. Others put it in the 1st house. This is pretty important, which one is true? Which house system do you use? IP: Logged |

I favour Equal and Campanus in addition to Placidus. When dealing with charts in which certain planets flirt close to cusps, I like to refer to several different house systems for a consensus. Of course, most people probably have a pretty good "feel" for their own charts, and by relying on intuition can make the necessary adjustments themselves. The calculation of house cusps is an inexact art; there is no "right" or "wrong" but there is plenty of room for trial and error. IP: Logged |

Taken from the thread "Where is YOUR Sun"? quote: I have Sun in Sagittarius in 6th by Equal system. 5th by others. What is it with these house systems anyway. How can they be different but both be right? Answer that if you dare! I defy anyone to give me a proper answer to that where they commit themselves, and not just come out with a load of equivocal BS.
I know this doesn't help this discussion particualarly, but highlights our shared frustration at something that i personally have never had a satisfactory answer to. ------------------ 4th December 1974 18:00GMT Isle of Wight UK IP: Logged |

Wouldn't Placidus and Koch be more accurate than Equal for people born at higher latitudes? Here's something on the house systems by an Astrological Historian, Dr. Sheppard Simpson... http://www.geocities.com/astrologyhouses/housesystems.htm IP: Logged |

I definately observe a 'House' effect day to day and over time in my own and other's charts. I just think Equal all the way. Everything else is just random guess work. Utter rubbish. Like religion really. There IS a god. But there are lots of conflicting religions. Therefore some of them have to be BS!------------------ 4th December 1974 18:00GMT Isle of Wight UK IP: Logged |

MCM, How are you so matter of fact as to think the only way is through the Equal House system, and that everything else is random guess work??IP: Logged |
