When you die and come back to life, do you get a whole new chart?
This may be a stupid question but with the two people that I know who have had a near-death experience, came back and they were COMPLETELY different. My Grandma, who was born an Aries sun, Leo moon and rising, was the meanest and most dynamic woman you'd ever meet. When she was "reborn" the sun was in Libra and she now has the personality traits of a Libra which she never had before!
Then the other guy I know, Eric, was born an Aries and was a bad person...Into drugs, stealing, hurting people and things like that (he was raised in Brooklyn NY). He was reborn when the sun was in Pisces, and he came back with the personality traits of a Pisces. He was more gentle and spiritual and never again did anything "un-christain-like". His wife said "He was a different person. It was like his soul was switched, though I know it wasn't."
My mom said the same thing about her mother (my grandma)!

So I was wondering; maybe you get a whole new chart?
Or is a near-death experience in your original one?

Intriguing topic, and I'm glad these people have changed for the better through the experience.

Someone told me that having Leo on my 8th house cusp means I'll live a long life (really?) and there was also a discussion some time ago, possibly on this forum, that mentioned saturn transiting the 8th house as a possible indication of death or near-death experiences.

Aaah, and there was that warning about not trying to predict your own death through your natal chart

Are there are transits that are shared between the two charts? Or a progression that places some planet in the 8th house maybe?

Wow!!! That was seriously an unexpected question!!! You know when you something strikes you as something bewildering and fascinating at the same time, because you would have never thought of it? Awesome question...

I think logically it would make sense that you would get a new chart.....however, people who have come back out of the dead, I think it is because of the experience, they would change themselves completely for the better.

Honestly...if you've led a bad life, and then almost shaken to the core b/c u got dipped into death and came back....when u think about it, you would want to self-moniter urself at all times if u've been doing the right thing or not. That's my take on it...

If thats true...then I would come back as a SCorpio again. I almost died during childbirth, so my chart would be the same as my sons.....wow....imagine that !!!!

LOL I was expecting you guys to either be like "Yeah your chart changes..duh" or "No of course not!"
Yeah that was another thing I was thinking about- maybe the experience was what changed them. But when my grandma had hers, she said that she told God "I'm not going to die! I'm not starting all over again!" and so he gave her another chance...I mean her experience wasn't tramatic or anything; not tramatizing enough to change her whole personality! You know?
hmm..it's a mystery. Anybody have any near-death experiences in here?

I don't think the chart changes as much as there are significant planetary transits taking place during that time that affects the chart.

If transiting Pluto makes an angle to the 8th house, sun or mars at the time of the experience- it may have more to do with the actual experience than the actual position of the transit sun itself.

What changes a person? Most likely it is the experience of death itself and facing the almost finality of death. It causes a person to evaluate their entire life, their actions and their future on this Earth.. therefore they make some major changes.

In my experience, there is some value in running a second chart, assuming you can get accurate data.

This has to be similar to what happens when a person is adopted. I have worked with adotpion charts enough to know that the transits to the adoption chart are more obvious than to the birth chart of the adoptee.

I have also observed that the two charts are visibly "the same person"---example Sun in Capricorn in birth chart and Sun conjunct Saturn in adoption chart. There is a need for more research in this area.

SPECIAL NOTE: When the natal Part of Fortune in an intercepted sign, being returned to life through CPR is common--what my guides said is that it represents a surge of (electrical) power to the chakra system, that results in a new sense of self--personality and more.

Interesting........I was wondering, while we know that astrology doesn't predict the time of death, is it possible to tell from looking at the progressed chart if the person is dead or alive? Or it just doesn't make any difference in a universal scheme of things?

Mind was 15th November 1998 whilst giving birth to my son.....

Intersting that I have strong Neptune in my chart and I almost died whilst anaesthetised....apparently planet Neptune was discovered around the same time as aneasthetic was discovered....

WOW...!!!

It has been said that each of us programs several (some say 7) "opportunities for death" into our natal charts. If life gets too difficult, this allows us to "bow out."

While there are certain transits that could be read as "death transits" what really shows up is opportunities for rebirth---this means a time to leave the past behind and move in a new direction. It does not show whether that will be in this world or the next.

Truth be told, most of us do not really want to know when we will die. A significant portion of us do not regard that as very important because we believe that the essential part of us never dies. A few do choose terminal illness, but it is not common, and some of those use that "end-date" to push themselves past it.

NOT a stupid question. This is one of the most unique and fascinating things to ponder when it comes to death and rebirth.

First, I've wondered many many times if there are any "landmarks" or "anchors" in a Chart which link directly to our former incarnation. Wonder if they would be common across the board for all Charts, such as looking at Pluto, or Saturn, or something else, you know? But I'm still not sure. There have been instances, it seems, when someone will die and immediately re-enter, but then maybe some souls take the time to study up and evolve behind the scenes before re-entering. I wish I could even begin to approach that question through astrology.

As for a near-death, maybe they take on the personality of the TRANSITING Chart when they were reborn because the near-death experience causes them to yield to life-at-large to such a degree as to accept and absorb everything around them with a new ease.

That point about Neptune's connection with anesthesia is really cool, and wonder if that can be applied to other close calls, based on the same.
