I am doing a bit of reading and reflecting on Venus and Mars conjunct in the natal chart (NOT synastry).

Anyone have experience with either of the following:

Your (or that of a lovers') Venus and Mars closely or tightly conjunct in the natal chart?

Your (or that of a lover's) Venus and Mars in the same sign?

If so how do you think this affects your or his/her approach to romance, sexuality, love and your libido?

PS I should mention that the two men I have been intimate with in my life both have tight Mars and Venus; and the Pisces who almost seduced me many many years ago as well. Doc's is not tight but they are in the same sign. A bit uncanny.

Lilygirl, my ex had Venus conjunct Mars in Cancer in his natal -
I think for him, Mars just causes trouble with his Venus. He doesn't have much success with relationships, and they always end badly with a great deal of animosity (on his part mainly). He seemed to love to fight.

But, I've read some interps about this aspect, and they're not all bad. Some say it's a nice fussion of their attitudes about sex & love - can't have one without the other, some say it gives a very passionate nature, and people are attracted to (Venus) the seething sexual energy (Mars) they have about them. This was true for my ex, but in the end, his Mars just stirred up trouble with his Venusian world. Always ready for a fight to the death, that guy.

He was an a-hole though, so maybe he's not a good case study of this placement.

Hey, Pisces here with the same element for my mars (sag) and venus (aries) but I have always wondered about this Cap in my life that has Aquarius venus and mars. Yeah crazy right? I would say the guy is not good with relationships and or intimacy!!! He is very detached but really have this need for closeness that he pushes away! See he is not just a cap and has sag moon and wants his freedom, my mars conjuncts his moon. So I have an understanding about his need for freedom especially with him having aqua venus and mars, OH AND MERC. lol! I just feel he is at odds with himself and he hates to fight but he likes to stir things up.. He likes games more so I think than the average cap!

I really think having the same sign as your venus and mars does make you a more passionate person, but I also think very fickle!

My retro venus conjuncts my mars

Eeeesshhh...

This is what astro.com says about it... I'm not sure if it helps.

Venus Conjunct Mars

You are likely to be sexually attractive to others, not because your physical appearance is so striking, necessarily, but because you emit a kind of animal magnetism that suggests sexual experience.

As a result you probably won't have any difficulty in finding a lover, for potential partners usually come to you.

You may be quite interested in sexual experimentation.

Opportunities for new experiences tend to occur at just the right time for you, when you are in the mood for change, rather than when you are settling into a style you enjoy.

Venus Conjunct Mars

You have very strong emotions and a great need to give and receive affection from others. Your emotions are so intense that you can't take your relations with others lightly; you form either a very strong friendship with someone or none at all. And in all your relationships, with friends or family, your emotions are likely to be more extreme than other people's. When you are angry with a loved one, you are very angry, but when you feel loving, you are very affectionate. Also, you are very concerned about how well your friends get along with each other.

Sometimes you may be unsure whether to assert yourself, give way to the other person's demands, or compromise, although that can be the most difficult choice of the three.

I feel either way Venus/Mars is expressed there's no doubt a sexual and highly passionate connection or at least attraction.

However, It seems to me that when my Venus conjuncts a lover/boyfriend's Mars then the relationship feels more balance and the sexuality/attraction feels more comfortable and natural.

As opposed to MY mars conjunct a lover/boyfriend's Venus ..the energy seems to work kind of backwards.

My venus and mars are conjunct in virgo.Venus is at 29 degrees, which gives it more of a libra vibe,my Mars at 22.I agree with what 1scorp posted about it,especially the need to give and recieve love. Also the emotions running very strong.Venus and Mars are both in the 8th,which makes the Virgos more agressive and passionate I believe. My boyfriend has Venus in Sag in the 4th,and mars leo in the 1st.His mars is exhausting! And the venus square my venus definately gives it a crazy feeling!
Like one minute we are arguing, next minute making love on the kitchen table sort of thing. Its a hard aspect, but I love him.
Peace to yuguys Eliza Libra/Scorpio/Aquarius

“If so how do you think this affects your or his/her approach to romance, sexuality, love and your libido?”

It depends…on what sign and house they’re in, what aspects there are etc

Approach to romance and love would ( I think ) depend on the sign. I have them in aries, the approach is very “pure”, honest…and a tad "me me me" - and competitive.

Approach to sexuality and libido? What 1scorp posted is pretty accurate

I appreciate everyone's comments. My experience is limited but it does seem to put some kind of patina on the sexuality. Sometimes asexual sometimes smoldering deeply sexual.

My ex exuded a sexual charisma, but it was false advertising. He really wasn't very sexual at all. Kind of a prude, actually.

I would say his sexual style was mental & asthetic - Libra-like almost. Makes sense, since Venus rules Libra. And his relating style could be described as Aries like, with his Venus conjunct Mars.

That is interesting Lioneye because I read an article on Sunday night--need to find it that suggested a tight conjunction between Mars and Venus sometimes (regardless of sign and house) indicates a very asexual, chaste almost eunchu monk kind of person who ultimately is not interested in the act of sex OR can go long periods without or forever without.

My spouse is like that (not good for a Mars/Moon Aries/Venus Taurus ). His conjunction is part of a LEO 8th House stellium. You would expect major fireworks--no none nada with anyone though his personna is a bit different. To be fair, he does however have his Saturn in the 12th house and Sun in Gemini.

omg so true

Tho I would say it’s more we’d rather die than lose - however, there are many people with this aspect that aren't that way.

People having venus mars conjunctions do like to:

1.Argue and debate (stir things up)

2. Have trouble with relationships, any relationshiops, not just romantic.

3. Are totally a-sexual, can go forever not having sex and it not bother them. It's like they enjoy themselves... :x

I agree with everyones posts about venus mars conjunctions having both my brothers and a guy I am in love with having this aspect.

The guy you’re in love with has all those problems, must be tough. What sign does he have it in, is it being aspected by Saturn?

What about someone with venus square mars? would that be a little same to the conjunction, or would that just mean their wants are very different than their needs?

Hello everybody! venus (scorpio) conj. mars (scorpio) here! I am NOT asexual - and yes, thats an understatement. I could go for long periods without it though - if I can't find a suitable partner, but I would rather have it regularly. I usually desire others fully or not at all (and not myself as has been otherwise suggested ) this is not always possible of course but it is most 'fun'. Have a good day everyone.

Hey Waternymph,

Thanks..... this is cute [it didn't work... ]

Hey Alanabelle86,

How does it work backwards, if the girl's mars conjuncts the guy's venus (and both in 6th house for the grl and 8th house for the guy)?

This is a very interesting topic! My Venus and Mars are not actually conjunct but are both in Leo. Mars is in my 7th house and Venus is in my 8th house which is crammed to the max! I have a very high sex drive and love sex and yet I haven't had sex in 4 years! Lol. Why? Well I don't go for casual sex and my relationships seem to be few and far between plus I seem to have a talent for ending up in relationships with guys who are impotent or have very little sex drive. It's really quite frustrating when I hear other people complain about their lover's high sex drive and yet I have one but keep ending up with men who don't (or can't!). Interesting to read this topic!
