go to 'page colors and background' ( top bar 'format' menu ) ..
select the 'use custom colors' box .. go down to the 'background image' text field ..
clik on 'choose file' .. make sure it's a .jpg or .gif file ... (when the directory appears )
then clik on the "URL is relative to page location" box .. that should delete the bit that sais the file comes off your hard disc .. then save the page before 'browzing' the page ( top bar 'file' menu ) .. if it refuses to co-operate on that .. save the page first .. then reopen it .. the "URL is relative to page location" will then co-operate .. i say IF as it sometimes it refuses to be ticked at first .. but it seems to work ok in version7 .. ( it may work better on a PC .. i'm not sure ) .. you will figure it ..

ok .. without the "URL is relative to page location" it may look like this .. *'zala's pc/directory.x/imgfile.jpg'* ..
with the the "URL is relative to page location" selected (ticked) it will read just *imgfile.jpg* and it will look for that file within the directory/folder you have saved the page to .. so the image files must be located in the same folder as the page .. ditto when u upload it to a www server .. if "URL is relative to page location" is not selected it will still look for the img file as if it were located on your hard drive .. and the link will not work when uploaded to the server .. best to get into the habit of making sure that "URL is relative to page location" is ticked every time .. will save a lot of hassle .. and remember .. the smaller the image data is in kilobytes the faster it will download off the www .. the 'medium' setting for .jpgs works best normally .. it's almost impossible to tell the difference between 'medium' quality and 'high' quality on a computer screen .. ( high quality for .jpg printouts but not nessecary for comp screens ) .. the least number of colors in an image will provide the smallest ammount of data size .. .gifs usually work out smaller and faster than .jpgs ( experiment in photoshop ) ..

( i realise u know some of that .. but have added it for kf's who might want to experiment with web page editing )

ps: with that "URL is relative to page location" .. if you delete the 'location' text first .. i.e. just leaving the *imgfile.jpg* bit .. then the tick box should be availble then and there .. see how it goes .. it may work better on a PC .. i'm not sure ..

that page looks same as on Mac version .. those two color boxes next to the 'body text' menu .. one is the text color .. the other is background ( i think .. as i don't normaly use it ) ..

Back in awhile to start working on Ze pg1 Could you advise about how to set up a page like one you did?? ie, I'd like to figure out how to make boxes with pics (a table?), so I can finally host the Rune stuff (and add some of the interps I've gathered over the last 18 months to it)..... so what I'm aiming for would be background, plus boxes with rune-pics which when (image was) clicked on would take one to the individual interps page..... would that be too complex for a beginning project??

mmm .. will have to look thru some zip discs for that ..

have some missing files any way ..
that "Gorgon and mr. Iceman" .. and LzG's "Sag Sun" that i had on the server ...
.. it's not like me not to make backup files ..
will have to remount the zip drive and do a file search ..
i took that software driver ( extension ) out as it was hanging up the system at startup ..
.. back to the drawing board re that i guess ..
pretty sure i still have those files .. but won't know till mr.zip is reconnected ..

ohhhhh .. that makes sense ..

Just so’s you know – had to save the page first – the “URL is relative to page location” text & checkbox is grayed-out/unavailable on my Untitled page…..

Again, just so’s you know – tried deleting all the directory location stuff, but “URL is relative…” was still grayed out. Solution: Save Page First

That’s where I’d like to head – So’s I can have my header page about (whatever), say Runes, and be able to click on any link in the header page which would take you to a subsequent page(s) with more info.

I already set up a new folder on my pc where all the webpage parade floats and marching bands and mounted drill teams are waiting in the wings ;-))

Re: Header Page Planning Stages Dept: Would it be better to have one header page for each different subject, or have all the subjects on one long page like yours is? I could have multiple dedicated Index pages, coudln't I? One page for Astro, one for Runes, one for Fractals, etc..... 'es possible'?

don't know what passwords have to do with img's .. .. but .. ..
earlier on i was replying to a post .. and y'know how the password and ID data self-load
well .. as that was happening i had an impulse to go back to the desktop mid-load ..
.. had to correct something .. .. anyhow i tried a 'refresh' on returning to the post dialogue box ..
and the password/ID refused to appear as normal .. .. so had to keep pasting in the password/ID ..

so .. just now i went and did a 'reset master password' .. came back here ..
and the pics worked ..
still i've no idea what the connection is between password and pic downloads ..

all is well now .. can see the pics ..
am debating whether to claim a new thread for mp3 files .. just uploaded some ..
but am getting tired of seeing my awful typo in 'snowfalkes are dancing' ..
