(Astrologically speaking - of course) what can indicate shallowness in a person's birth chart?

i think an excess of any one element can have that effect...i know ppl with mostly earth who r quite shallow. i think a balance of yin-yang gives depth

3 Libra placements in my chart, its also my strongest "sign" accdg to Pullen, and its my astro signature.

Not shallow.

My Libra Sun mother on the other hand...where do I begin, haha. That woman is very strange.

Hey Hey !!! I am a gemini mooner.....and i really wudnt call me shallow...far from it

i dont think we can pick one sign and say oh tht's shallow. we have to look at the chart, and the next best wud be to talk about a certain pattern...say stellium in gem/sag, something like that

Thanks libraschoice7

green fairy, may be, just may be, you r confusing shallowness with how emotional a person seems? (bcoz u took air mooners)

i wud define being shallow as someone who doesnt give much thought to what he/she does, hasn't thought out about his/her values, and just follows the rules of religion/society etc etc blindly. you know, no depth to them. or rather that they r unaware of their depths. now it depends on them wht part of their psyche they ignore/explore. cud be their feelings, their values, their ideas, their actions, or all or none. it is when most of these have not been developed, tht i wud define the person as shallow.

btw thinking about things is the air sign's forte.

I don't think I would consider air mooners shallow...maybe a little bit "airy" but not shallow. A shallow person, to me, is someone who is only concerned with appearances.

Do not mistake emotional detachment with shallowness. Gems and Aquas tend to have pretty intense emotions but they just detach from them, so you don't always see them.

Honestly, if you're gonna pick on one sign, I'd say Sag Suns and moons, by far by my experience. All my Sag Sun/moon friends and personal/work acquiantences in the past have been incredibly shallow people. Not only did their emotions run pretty shallow, they don't invest much on others, even thought hey were often very "busy" socially - at least air Suns and moons invest themselves cerebrally with people. I don't see that with Sags often. My dad's a Libra with a Sag moon and while he may not seem like a shallow person on the surface (thanks ot his Cancer ASC) he's made a lifetime out of not investing himself with other people, including his own family.

My mom on the other hand is Gem Sun with an earth moon, and she's teh opposite of of my dad. She seems shallow and ditzy on the surfacee, but she invests herself alot emotionally in other people and is a very sympathetic person overall.

Awesome, ILWL -- Defender of Air!!!

**edit** But seriously, can we -- or should we -- look at a person's birth chart and say "This person is a shallow human being." ???

thanks Zala

of course we can't, i realized it almost as soon as i posted it, but forgot to go back and edit

i think its pretty much impossible to tell from a chart who wud be shallow....we cud have some correlations, yes, but to judge whether a person is shallow by looking at their chart- just won't work.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, i believe i do know what a shallow person is but it's just the fact that "airy" people tend to get a bad reputation. That's all.

(I mean come on, i got Gem venus and lots of 11th house in my chart lol)

Right on GN

Im an Aqua with a Gem Asc and people think Im surface, simple or ditzy, and underestimate me...but Im often far more emotionally aware and intelligent than they think. It gets annoying but at times I just play along with it and shock them at leisure.

one of the most shallow and judgemental and dull oversexed individuals I have ever known was an aquarius sun (fixed in her opinions) with a lot of sag. A few of her sag placements made connections with other planets bringing out the judgemental shallow side and her sun kept those feelings in place big time!

aw c'mon obviously Sags, being your opposition sign, rub you the wrong way... but it doesn't make them shallow by no means...while this post of yours is shallow and immature

Moreover, i have met Cancerian chicks who are totally superficial and sl*tty.

So i guess it's a matter of aspects, houses and... what else?
