How many of you frequently find yourselves in the role of chronic platonic friend?

I see a lot of Virgos who are too shy/inhibited/scared to make a move. They'll dig on someone for years without saying anything.

Is this a Libra thing, too? I would have thought they'd charm their way into something!

hmmm, Azalaksh... I thought it was the "Libra Curse" too.

I remember going to this web page ( http://www.astrofish.net/xabyss/g.libra.html ) and it saying, "curse of the libra moon" and being a libra moon myself; that kind of stuck in my mind. haha. Maybe the 'curse' for Libra is their indecisiveness.

Anywho, I HAVE heard that having a stellium in Virgo and/ or Sagittarius is supposed to be 'karmic'... (*can't find the web site at the moment...grrr...*)

I don't really know what this has to do with this topic, but... who knows; cursed or karmic... it is whatever you want to 'call' it.

ummm...just felt like posting ;p.

Oh, and... future_uncertain,
I have that 'Virgoan' quality that you mentioned (digging up on someone for years without them knowing about it). Though I do have a Virgo Ascendant (conjunct my Virgo South Node); I'm not sure it is because of the 'virgoan' influence that I am shy and inhibited...it could be; but...it might be due to my Cappy stellium and my introverted Mercury in Pisces (plus with Venus in Taurus and Mars in Cappy; I won't exactly be the one to make the 'first' move) ;p.

virgo's vulnerability stops them from pursuing and becoming intimate romantically.

lack of self-confidence, rejection fears. all that can be pinned on virgo.

I guess. Although, for me, I feel like it's not really that simple. Being a gay guy who doesn't really get along with other guys (odd that, isn't it? ), I don't usually find myself in that position, because I don't really have any guy friends!

Even if I did, I don't think I would say anything to the guy, not because I'm necessarily afraid of rejection, because, living in the South and being gay, a lot of time, I'm too afraid that I'll get the **** beaten out of me or something. Haha, logically, I know I won't, because I live in a fairly liberal city, but it's still a little bit of a worry. I'm pretty...wary, I guess, of the consequences.

My Virgo husband is like this

I came on to him 18 years ago, even though he said he was mad about me, he wouldnt have made the first move......just as well I was/is bold....Aries rising too!!!!!

If we were to split, i think it would too take him a long time to become romantically involved with another....

He is quite a hermetic type of man, maybe he was a monk in his past life?

He fears failure....of letting others down...

I have Sun, Merc, Venus, Ceres, Juno, Pt. Fort.,Uranus and Pluto in Virgo. Whew!

I really don't mind being a Platonic friend.
Must be my Aries Moon. I like the company of men who are "only" friends...

I actually have the reverse problem.

I am not shy, inhibited or scared to make a move.
I would say it's the trine between my Jupiter in Leo to the Moon that lends me a hand. I do fear rejection....and at times have had a lack of self-confidence... But seem to find the kahoonas to do it anyway.

interesting topic.

I am a virgo sun, mercury, venus. And, this has only happened to me once, when I had fallen in love with a friend of mine. It was so bizarre, I still don't understand what happened. He was a pisces (and was looking for a blonde who looked great in a bikini.....yep he found her and married her) He gave me the old "i think of you as my sister" line.

I have to say, that in my life that is not the norm.....I meet many men who are interested in a relationship, and am rarely single. that is actually my problem!!! (the men that have chose me end up being, well, let me say i have made some pooooooooor decisions)

If Virgos are having this problem because of shyness, that is not what I have found with typical FEMALE virgos. Most I have known (a lot) are outgoing and very appealing to men who like to chase them.

However........virgo MEN in my studies have been completely opposite. They have been shy in relationships, almost nerdy, and are seen as more of a "friend" than anything.

Nope.... Never have chronic platonic friendships with guys, I WANT. Never.

I take guys who want to sleep with me in the beginning and make them platonic friends, but that's by choice.

wouldn't a cappy be like that too?

I have a 6 house stellium, if that counts.
I don't have trouble approaching a guy, asking him out, or am afraid of rejection...My problem is acting too quickly and impulsively and messing things up before I ever officially go out with a person. It's actually kind of sad to think about it. I've learned from past experience not to make the first move anymore...Don't know where this weird confidence comes from.

Taurus/12th, Scorpio/6th, Cancer Rising...
I personally think it's because of my planets squared to Mars.

Me, I tend to have a few "friends only" guyfriends, except that's how I prefer to view them (but really, if it weren't for their shyness they would have made a move on me). I like to keep that "friendly barrier" because that's all I intend to have, and nothing more. But the guys I do want...now that's a different story. Supposedly "cursed" with my Virgo Moon, it does take me a while to finally approach the one I desire and spill my guts to him. Haha, and that's just what I do wrong everytime! It's like there's nothing at first as though the guy would not have a clue that I long for him from afar, biding my time...and then when I talk..I talk too much! But it's not like they're not interested. You see, I always try to pick out someone who is single or not flirty to make sure that I can really mark him as a target. If I notice that he's veering toward someone specific, though, I kind of "let go" even though I probably did not even know him all that well to begin with to consider having had a grasp on him. But it always seems like it takes so long for me to finally alert them to my presence that they've suddenly found someone. ANd so from thereon, there's more of that whole "friend" thing, except they may be aware of my feelings (if I have hinted at them or informed them) but recently setteled in with some other girl and so that's all there is. And even that eventually molders into nothing...ness.

While I might occasionally think a guyfriend could have some potential, nothing will come of it because we are both too shy (or I maintain the friendly barrier). But then there are the virulently annoying types too who are just pests and obstinately refuse the camaraderie in pursuit of something beyond a platonic bond. With those types, I would rather annul and dissolve the acquaintance-friendship thing completely, much to their dismay.

Hah, I probably sounded way too arrogant right there. I don't know. Maybe I'm just a big loser to begin with so I never end up being with anyone...or it's that and I'm doomed to reject those who make advances toward me and be rejected by those I like.

Im a Cancer sun , Cappie moon ...so rejection does play big in my life.
But...
...becos I dont mind whether I stay friends with someone or whether it develops into something more meaningful...I am not at all shy about approaching guys I find attractive.

Im the one who tends to go up and ask, 'Can I Kiss you?' They usually say yes, cos Im hot .

But yep...my Virgo and Libra friends do have a tendency towards being thes houlder to cry on.

I definately think that virgo can hold you back, i have a stellium in aries with sun, mars, mercury and venus, all in the tenth house.. quite an aggressive combination you might think? but i have a cancer ascendant and virgo moon which definately makes a difference.. its a classic see saw situation. If im honest, sometimes i hate having virgo in such a prominant place, dont get me wrong.. i love virgos, but every time i feel that insecure self doubt, and fear of rejection - i know its virgos fault!

Look - Virgo is the sign of the Virgin/wh0re. (meant in a complimentary way) Which one you want to be or manifest is your pick. She can be a sex goddess too, she's very fertile. (Male Virgos might have problems connecting with that energy because of our culture.) Virgo is also a sign of self-suffiency. Virgo can be your biggest strength if you focus on healing and improving yourself.

Lack of Self-esteem and confidence in yourself due to emotional wounds is the problem - not the sign Virgo! She can help you fix it, so I actually see your placements as very hopeful.
